not enough exercise?

dd2 is 2.4 months and rarely sleeps during the day, and hasn't done since turning 2.

She has recently started trampolining lessons, the lesson lasts for 45 mins and is obviously good exercise for her, the last 2 weeks she has come home and gone to sleep for 2 hours which is practically unheard of for her!

I am now wondering if she should get more regular exercise, or is she just catching up on days of no naps.
She doesn't walk much as we have to drive to dd1's school and this cold weather we rarely go to the park at the moment... She does go to nursery 2 mornings a week and they play outside if the weather is ok.
How much exercise does your toddler get? She absolutely refuses to walk anywhere and if we go to the local shop/library etc.. she goes in the pushchair.

Ds 2.2 does not do any exercise at all. He just runs around in the house all day. I dont think children of this age needs any exercise if they are active.

What is trampolining lesson?

yes - what is trampolining lesson - sounds great - where do u go?

dd doesnt do formal exercise but she does go for a long walk in the woods most days and tends to drop off to sleep on the way home in the buggy. Exercise and fresh sir is good for them so if they srent walking running round then getting them to do something fun like tramolining is probadly a good idea

I would say that she is probably OK and that it is good that she has one nap a week to help her catch up. The only thing I could suggest and that I do with DD (1.9 so a bit younger) is swimming. I think this is good exercise at this age - or at least tiring so might buy you an extra nap. Grin

However personally I would start working on the walking. Maybe just go for a wander around your own street with no goal in mind - perhaps even with DD pushing doll's buggy - to start with. I am working on getting DD to walk more and spend less time in the pushchair and will increase this in the summer when it is more pleasant to move along at a toddler's pace.

thats a GREAT idea of bozza's to get your dd a dolly's buggy - i did this when my dd2 was born - dd1 was 2yrs 2weeks at the time and i just didnt want a double buggy. i bought a buggyboard but hated using it, so the only other option was for dd1 to walk.

i bought her a dolly's buggy and it did the trick.

if it was a long walk we got the bus - the walk to the bus stop was exercise in itself. and getting the bus is exciting when you are 2.

then they just get used to it.

pushing a dolly's buggy is a good idea, will try that.
they run trampolining lessons at our local sports centre... dd1 who is now 4.5 has been going for 2 years and loves it. They use large/adult size trampolines and learn all the correct jumps etc... by properly trained teachers and hopefully eventually join a club and enter competitions, but obviously at this age it is more fun and good exercise.
