How to nurse vomiting DD

15 month old DD seems to have some sort of vomiting bug. Any tips for nursing, making clean up easier? Wondering if we have enough old towels!

As my GP would say 'rest the gut'... which effectively means fluids only, cooled boiled water or very diluted juice rather than milk.... so that the bug has nothing to work with. Dioralyte crystals are also recommended to restore the electrolyte balance. Try some very plain food like rice or stewed apple once the vomiting has stopped for a while. As always, if it continues, see your GP.

Ice lollies (non milky ones) to keep her hydrated. And plastic sheets. It's horrible-hope you have a tumble drier!

Thanks. We are in New Zealand so night time here. She has just gone to sleep on my lap. Should I keep here on me or put her in cot. Should I stay with her. DH had a similar bug a week ago. Was only sick once, so hopefully a 24 hour thing.

I'd put her in a cot but keep an ear out for problems and have some spare sheets handy. If you can halt the vomiting for several hours by not giving her food, it should stop relatively quickly.

Thanks. She has just been sick again, but went straight back to sleep. She is exhausted poor thing. Have put a towel across the head of her cot and have muslins ready. Think that I might bed down in her room, for the first part of the night any way.

Poor you and Dd.
IME best to keep them upright and still, so perhaps prop up the cot mattress with a pillow underneath, and just give water, milk when she asks for it, and keep nice and still for a while after.
Hope she feels better soon.
