Some advice re transport problem

Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask, but thought you might have some helpful pointers for a problem my family are having. I'm trying to help DH figure out how best to support his Mum and sister, so apologies that info is 3rd hand.

DSIL uses a wheelchair, and is going on holiday with a specialist company she's used for years. Getting to the starting point for the holiday appears to mean that she needs to get herself to a central London station without assistance from the holiday company. In the past, her (divorced) parents have each accompanied/taken her one way. This year, DMIL has major back problems, so would need additional help to be able to get DSIL and her luggage to the meeting point, assuming they got a taxi to the station. The meeting point appears to be upstairs in the station.

DMIL has asked DH to meet her and DSIL at the station to assist in getting from taxi to the meeting point upstairs (we live on the opposite side of London to DMIL and DSIL, who live 10 mins apart). This means a two-hour round trip for DH to provide 10 mins of assistance.

I appreciate that DH and I may be being incredibly naive and ignorant, but it seems unlikely to us that there is no support available either from the station or the holiday company to avoid DMIL and DH having to do this.

Please do you have any advice on things DSIL can try to get the support she needs on this occasion, or confirm that this is the reality for disabled people who want to go on holiday. Thanks!

No idea I'm afraid. It's prob worth contacting the station she is going to and asking I'd they provide help. I know rail companies do provide some help if given notice but not sure if this just involves getting on/off train, carrying luggage etc. If you find out do come back and let us know as I'd be interested in what they say :)

Thanks flowerflo. It's on Sunday, so I think DH will probably just be doing the round trip now...!

Update - just heard that MIL talked to the Passenger Assistance Office at the station (Euston), and they will be able to assist DSIL. So it seems that it's always worth asking :).
