drying tips

After successfully picking your brains about washing nappies, I'd like to carry on a point mentioned in another thread about drying nappies.

I have bamboo ones that dry well enough when the sun's out (normally not a problem where I live, except we're have storms this week, argh) or over the wood burner in winter...but spring/autumn when the heating isn't on but the weather is crap, what do you do?

Would it be a good idea to buy some micro-fibre nappies (but then absorbancy is much less?)? I don't want to buy a tumble-dryer - has anyone used on of these gadgets?

Any tips welcome!

i use microfiber during the day (which are fine for day time for us) and then bamboo over night (or for long journeys etc if i know i might not be able to change bum within 3 hours)

i find microfiber 100% fine during the day, and i know a friend who uses tots fluffles with just a bamboo booster for the night, so she has 20 fluffles 5 bamboo boosters and washes every 3rd day

Sounds a good system. I've lots of bamboo inserts. This could be part of the solution. Are microfibers really puffy on baby's bottom? Or do they pack down nicely once wrap and trousers are on?

i do find them quite bulky ,compared to a disposable, but not really much bulkier than a tots bamboozle...

Thanks nanny. Which microfiber make would you (or anyone else) recommend? I've been looking at the Teddy by bambinex (which has a poor review on MN) and the Fluffles by tots bots.

i use lollipop micro mainly, i also have 1 (old style) lollipop softee and some tots fluffels

the micros dont squash any smaller, the softee is fatter than the micro but can squish into clothes, and the fluffel i think is slightly bulkier than the softee (though very similar material) but probably squishes to the same size as a micro if necessary

i LOVE my lollipop micros, a few weeks ago they were £3.50 each on the website and i ordered mine during nappy week so got free postage too

Micros were my favourite size 1 nappy, and even though i had 80+ size 2 nappies i bought some more lollipop micro size 2s as i liked them so much and sold my cotton ones as they take more than 1 night to dry, which annoys me. (cause i need my airer back for clothes washing)

God, where does everyone buy nappies so cheap? The microfibres don't come up that often on ebay either. Where did you buy yours nanny?

they had bamboo nappies for £4

from here though it looks like the micro ones are now sold out and thee bamboo ones are now £4.49, im sure they were £3.99 though i could be wrong?
