Ok, I can't spell it.

Dd2 is 11mo, and has it at the minute :(
We saw the doc yesterday, and she had 24hours of not having her milk feeds. And just having Diarolyte like solution instead. Needless to say, she hated it, as she's a milk monster. So, after 24hours we go back to giving her her milk, and she is now vomitting, and has worse diahorrea.
Really want to see doc again tom, and she mentioned about soy milk.
Any ideas, at what else I can do??

Didn't want you to go unanswered, just have sympathy to offer as DS is 10mo and also D&V. Well, he vomited a few days ago and it's been diarrhoea since then.

He was on the Diaoralyte too but luckily has been taking bf and formula milk.

If you press her fingernail and the colour doesn't return immediately, apparently that means dehydration.

If you are really worried, go to A&E today.

Thanks for the reply.
The doc did mention about pressing on her finger nail.
She seemed fine earlier, just tired, and wanting to go to bed.
I think a trip to the doc's again tom should do (we're 7hrs ahead in Oz), but gonna check up on her regularly tonight.

I think you are confusing dehyration with anaemia TBH Poppy.
The easiest check for hydration levels is to gently pinch the skin on the back of your DDs hand.
If it tents and stays like that, she could be dehydrated. If it snaps back immediately she is fine.
I would probably go back to dioralyte. It doesn't sound as if her gut is able to tolerate the milk.

That is what the doc at A&E told me, sorry if it's wrong!

ripsishere · 17/06/2012 15:09

I am not convinced she was right. No need to apologise to me.

Longdistance · 17/06/2012 15:17

The doc told me about pinching the skin too. Have just checked on her and woke her, and done both. She's fine. Gonna see what she's like in the morning, but still gonna get a doc appointment.

My DD has had this so just be careful of dehydration otherwise as awful as it is it will have to ride out. Also more than a few days without flushing out her urine properly can lead to urine infection so just cautioning. Get well soon.

BTW syptoms of this are fever and vomiting in children for info xx
