"How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk"

v

"Calmer, Easier, Happier Parenting: The Revolutionary Programme That Transforms Family Life"

I have got the first book and would like to hear from someone who could compare these two books.

Thanking you.

Anyone? Would really love to hear someone's opinion on the 2nd book as I do not know whether it would be worth buying it or not as I already own the 1st one which is also about praising tactics.

Never heard of the second one. Like the first one though and actually use some of the tips.

Read today's web chat with the author. A few posters on there have read it and the whole thread makes interesting reading.

Oh it's gone. You could try a search.

The second one sounds interesting, I'd be tempted to get it and compare.

The first one I've read, and although i find the general idea useful, it doesn't really work for me. No one talks like that, for start. Secondly, when I try to talk like the book suggests, the DCs don't give the correct response, so there's no point, unless I give them a script and make them stick to it Grin

I have read the first book and I like it but something is still missing. I have tried to be more positive, less shouting, more praising. It looks as it does work. However, I still want my older DS to respond when I call him and not after I have been calling is name more than 3 times. I also want him to concentrate more on his studies.

Has anyone already read the Calmer, Easier, Happier Parenting: The Revolutionary Programme That Transforms Family Life? Would love to hear about it.

Haven't read that, but I have just read 123magic which gives good psychological reasoning for the discipline method (very basically, count of 3 then time out or withdrawal of privileges) and I found it to be very sensible. May help if your DC is under 12.

123magic is pretty much the polar opposite of HTT. 123magic is very much "Here's the rules. Stick to them or else." HTT is much more of a dialogue. Haven't read the other one so don't know about it. Sorry.
