What to buy a 2nd time new mother as gift for baby girl?

Hi

I'm stuck what to give a 2nd time mum as a gift for the baby. It's a girl. I can't think of anything she doesnt have from first time round as the first baby is a girl too. Plus, she is very particular. First time round I thought I would ask her what she wanted and that was a nightmare. What can I get?

It has to be some cool baby product thats latest on market or something hip and cool. She's into all that stuff.

No photoframe, baby book keepsake /display item suggestions as I know she wouldn't appreciate that.

Budget up to £100 at most.

This is hard just thinking about it...ahhhh!!!!

Tbh I bought a few 2nd time mothers chocolates, gin and champers :o. Went down very well! And a voucher for the baby, so she could choose - would that work?

By the time dc3 came along, we had everything we needed. Sleeping bags (larger sizes) came in handy as the zips had gone on our old ones, and new bibs as the velcro had gone. How about some funky bibs and her drink of choice?

Look at Brora-cashmere baby blanket or baby cardigan (get 3-6m size to get maximum wear). The kind of gorgeous extravagant thing you probably wouldn't buy yourself but it will be treasured and used and adored.

Wow, £100 for a friend's Dd, will you be my friend too??

Seriously though, how about :

Merino baby blanket/wrap (not exactly new but very nice) www.merinokids.co.uk/

Sheepskin for pram

A nice baby carrier she may not have used one when only had one DC but might need hands free this time round? www.amazon.co.uk/Beco-Gemini-BG_FOXIE-NEW-Foxie/dp/B005XJ3OOW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1339021660&sr=8-3

Babybjorn bouncy chair in tasteful beige? here

Was previous DD born at same time of year, if not then there would be different seasonal clothes required at different ages so some nice clothes www.tobytiger.co.uk/summer-clothes-and-sun-hats.htm

Pamper gifts! or a voucher for a hairdresser (and offering to babysit when she goes). Or wine and chocolates. SOmething for her I think.

She won't need baby stuff, and I've found that when you have a baby (girl) you get inundated with pink crap and stuff you don't need.

We clubbed together with friends and paid for a cleaner for a few hours. They chose the hours and we paid. They loved it.

What about a nice grobag or two? They're very very popular.
Also, I know not actually for a baby, but GroEggs are cool, I have one. It's a thermometer for the baby's room, the shape of an egg and depending on the temperature it glows different colours. Useful and pretty!
Also a lot of the Tomy Momma range is very funky, all that 'ergonomic' and 'innovative' stuff Wink

Plus, if she's in to stuff like that, i'd recommend some nice posh organic baby stuff, maybe a massage oil/cream for the baby or maybe some nice clothes.
Pumpkin patch do lovely clothes!

My DS got loads of teddies when he was born

DD got 1!

So now I always buy a cuddly toy for the baby or other toy that could be a keepsake (or given away!). Although I only do that if I didn't get them a basket of muffins/biscuits in the first couple of days

Totallytartan.net baby blankets. Absolutely gorgeous, can't recommend enough. I don't know the owner or anything but bought a few for gifts and Mum's have ben delighted!

ceeveebee · 09/06/2012 21:52

Medented, those blankets are gorgeous!

MeDented · 09/06/2012 23:55

They are even nicer in real life ceeveebee, I so wish I had known about them when mine were little, and soooooo soft!

A Merino wool sleeping bag? Just brilliant and within your budget but expensive enough to be a lovely present. I would have died and gone to heaven if I'd been given one!

everythingtodo · 10/06/2012 20:26

A portable travel blackout blind like this from nct but there are lots of others on the market now.

We got ours 6 years ago and it has been the best thing we got - comes with us in the bag on every holiday and weekend away - can't think how much more hours sleep that £30 has got me!

Makes a difference but practical gift imo!

everythingtodo · 10/06/2012 20:28

An in the ear instant thermometer (like the doctors at the hospital use) if she hasn't already got one.

These are all things I've given as gifts and been well received..

I've found some really beautiful and soft blankets from this site:
