Boys hate shopping

Both my boys are in desperate need for new trousers (they are both guilty of growing their legs at a stupidly fast rate). DS1 (12) is not very enthusiastic but has agreed that his trousers look ridiculous, DS2 (8) is stropping around saying he doesn't want new trousers and being generally quite rude. AIBU to take them both out but only buy DS1 any trousers and maybe even have a computer game ban for the rest of the day (which is what they both actually want to do).

You can't buy them trousers over the internet? I avoid shopping when I can (have never taken either DC shopping).

I hate shopping and I'm not a boy Grin

I'd take them along just to make the point that family life means occasionally doing things that aren't your #1 favourite thing. ... :) Dragged my 12yo along to buy bedding plants yesterday. QED

Internet shopping is useful, but the legs are not a consistent length in clothes so I like to get them to try them on. I think they should learn that if they need something, they'll have to do something about it (ie, turn the tv off and go to the shops). We also needed some food for their pet so we did really need to go out.
After the initial reluctance, they did actually enjoy choosing 3 new pairs each and took an interest in what would go with what. I've spent years buying stuff for an uninterested DH and thought that getting them engaged in choosing stuff might help out their future significant others.
They are currently learning all about how coat hangers work Wink

Ah my boys were like that.
Look at it this way , boys are cheaper than girls as they aren't interested in how they look until girls appear on their radar. When they hit 14 and suddenly become aware of their appearance it changes.
If I had had girls I would have been much poorer Grin

My boys...the thing that annoyed me was the rude behaviour, whining and being generally horrible when I said "today, we need to go out to buy food for the tortoise, juice and we can have a look for some new trousers for you both". All they want to do is play on the Xbox (I hate that bloody thing), it's all they talk about - to the point where talking about the Xbox during mealtimes is banned. The 8 year old has just asked me if we can have something that takes a long time to cook so that they have longer to play...maybe they could help me? Maybe I'm a terrible mum who just wants the kids to grow up being slightly capable of doing alternative jobs to "games console tester" Smile

To be fair, the games industry is one of the country's most successful ones and it's the best thing to do with a degree in maths. :-) (says she who's just spent an hour on the XBox) Grin

I have 2 boys that hate shopping, one more so than the other. They are cheaper though, they are not fussed a jot if they go to the shops and come home with nothing. Me, on the other hand......Blush

Buying clothes can be a pain, generally I do it online. I tried to do real shopping with ds1 for a new waterproof. We trekked around the outdoor shops and he basically rejected everything, even before they had been tried on as the logo wasn't right, the colour was wrongHmm

I came back and showed him a picture of one he'd rejected in store online, he said yes and I ordered it, he loves it....go figure!

I love shopping with my 12 yrs old twins. I think they are more expensive than girls. In the earlier years and still it was football kits, tracksuits, football boots etc and now its chinos. At least they usually want the same thing so easy to shop with.
