Exam in 10 days. Is that enough time to cram? I know literally nothing for 2/3rds of the paper Confused

Is everyone actually studying rather than procrastinating on here then? Shock :o

At the risk of killing the thread even more I will just say I am nearly done on my TMA but have ended up 200 (10%!) words over, really struggling to cut it down now.

Well my exam paper got released a couple of days after the exam and I'm now fuming. There was one question which I answered based solely on what this course has covered and it now seems that I should have used the extra knowledge I have. Apparently the course team that set the exam discussed that question and whether to leave it as it was because they weren't sure whether we would know what was going on...but decided to just stick it in anyway Angry. Seriously though, WTF? They purposefully put an ambiguous question based on material not covered in the course in the exam???? Hmm Kinda sums this course up for me.

Shock that's awful are you going to be able to complain? have you spoken to your tutor or fellow students about it?

TMA04 finished and sent with about 10 mins to spare.

Now just got to do TMA03 in one week having not done more than a couple of pages of reading Hmm

craftynclothy · 19/06/2012 17:06

The question was discussed a fair bit after the exam in the forum. When the course person posted to say they'd discussed the issue before it was put in, I replied to express my annoyance. Someone else replied to 'second' my post.

Am hoping that because there's been this much discussion about it they'll allow both answers. They're obviously now aware that it has thrown people off.

I really hope so. Can you look back at the course description on the online prospectus? All the courses I've done have had very specific descriptions of what you must have done already, and what it is recommended that you've studied. IME there is often a surprising lack of prior requirements on the list (otherwise it'd be virtually impossible to do an Open degree as I am doing). I am wondering - provided of course that it hasn't been very recently updated - you can have a look and see if there is anything that could help or hinder the students' case? Maybe something that mentions what extra reading/prior knowledge you are expected to do.

I hope it works out.

I had to defer my exam until October. Procrastinate wildly, me Hmm. I have a doctors certificate, but I'm wishing I'd just sat the exam. Now it'll be hanging over me for ages and I'll probably forget half the stuff I revised by October, and not get around to re-revising.

Bummer about your exam crafty - but it seems lots of people are in the same boat. As you say, hopefully they will take this into account.

Well done on yr TMAs fuzzpig.

i have had to take interrupted study also - had to have unexpected surgery last week which will take a couple of weeks to recover from and then will be on holiday for two weeks. since i am so behind with the reading etc already i haven't a snowball in hell's chance of making up any of the missed work so am going to take up where i left off next year - i can carry my marks forward to the next presentation so they are not lost. it just takes the pressure off me somewhat so that when i come to do the last few TMAs and the exam i will at least have had a chance to do some of the work before.

i thought long and hard about it as i really wanted to get this course over and done with as it is not what i expected it to be and i can't say i am particularly enjoying it but feel i can't do myself justice in the course at the moment.

am starting two short courses in september and november so will visiting this board but in the meantime hope all goes well for the rest of you and if any kicks up the proverbial are needed at TMA time i'll be there!!
