Can I combine Comfort milk with Hungry baby formula? or should I just give more?

Would I cause any harm by combining the two formulas? I know the comfort one contains less lactose... so perhaps I would be cancelling out the work it is doing?
Daughter is 3 weeks, has had terrible issues with colic.. but also recently has appeared CONSTANTLY hungry in the evening. I am contemplating doing 2 evening feeds of hungry baby and keeping the comfort formula in the day.

I could just give more Comfort, but I don't want to overfill her tummy with liquid!
Both formulas are Cow & Gate brand.

How much formula is she taking per feed and how many feeds in a day? They go through a growth spurt (one of many) at this point.

My DS, now 5 months has always been a little ahead on how much formula he has versus what it said on the side of the formula container. When I spoke to the hv about it, she said that they are just averages. He is on the 50th percentile for weight.

I wouldn't mix the formula.

Why not just give a bit more of the normal formula? From what I understand the hungry baby stuff is harder to digest because it is casein based. So if she is hungry just put a bit more in her bottle or feed her more often in the evening rather than give her something that might be too difficult for her tiny tummy to cope with.

Cluster feeding in the evenings is very normal baby behaviour. I would feed on demand and offer a dummy in case she wants to comfort suck rather than feed.

Thank you for the advice :)

I was really worried about giving her too much by what the formula box said... as its 90mls for up to 2 months. Taking her up another ounce made me anxious!

My worry is that she would keep eating and eating and then throw it all up... are there any risks to them eating too much?
The dummy is very hit and miss... she will get very angry because it isn't like the teat of the bottle (tommee tippee)

What kind of dummy is it? You might find she prefers the cherry style over the orthodontic style (or vice versa).

Overfeeding is a risk in bottle fed babies, and it's the reason why bottle fed babies tend to gain more weight faster than breastfed babies. This is mostly down to babies "guzzling" milk from the bottle and being "encouraged" to finish the last drop/have the right amount - this interferes with the baby's ability to recognise that they are full.

There are some good bottlefeeding tips here - www.kellymom.com/store/freehandouts/bottle_feeding.pdf
Basically try to slow down the feed, giving lots of pauses for the baby to realise if it has had enough, and no jiggling the bottle in their mouths.

I would up the amount and then see how she gets on. As I said before the guidance on the side is just an average, it does also show weight, which I found more useful for gauging where to be.

Also you may well find that during a growth spurt you have to temporarily increase the amount you give and then in a few days you will find she goes back to normal.
