How are people coping everyday?

How are you doing? Just need to have a rant. I feel a bit out of control of my life atm. I don't know if my kids are more demanding than most or if I'm just crappy. My garden looks like a jungle because the lawn mower is broken. My car has broken down. I'm over weight and my house is a tip with a mountain of clothes every where. Sorry for being all "me me me". : (

Sounds like you've got a lot on your plate! If only one of those things was happening with you at the moment, it wouldn't seem nearly as bad.

My advice would be to tackle one at a time. Write a list and make sure you cross them off as they're done. Even just seeing the list getting smaller will make you feel better.

thankyou I will try to do that. : ) everyone around me seems to be very in control of their lives and it feels like I'm doing life wrong.

Just made my kids a den and I can hear them giggling inside. Maybe things aren't so bad. : )

Everyones life looks better than your own, so get that thought out of your head right now! Wink

If you were to come to my house now, you'd think everything was rosy and calm and perfect. If you could see inside my head, it would be a very different matter! Grin

Can you afford to get a new mower or could you borrow one? I feel instantly better if the grass is cut. This is a problem for me at the moment actually. I have tennis elbow and I can't cut it! The back is OK, DD did it for me last week, but the front of the house is a mess, so maybe you wouldn't think things were all that great if you came round actually! Grin

Focus on one room a day as well as the kitchen to clean and tidy. Plus one hour of ironing a day if ironing is important to you.

Can you ask a neighbour to borrow a lawnmower?

How old are your dcs Gemtubbs?

WinkyWinkola · 27/05/2012 11:04

And if the beds are made, a room looks instantly tidier.

If your dcs are older, get them to help too.

MaureenMLove · 27/05/2012 11:09

I wouldn't do the ironing. Hang it all up in the wardrobes and iron as you need it, then as you wash again, start a new, less mountainous pile and iron regularly.

I am pretty good at doing the ironing at the same time every week, so I only have to iron what I've just washed. However, when I come back from my holiday int he summer, the pile is so huge, it freaks me out, so I put it all away and start again!

Gemtubbs · 27/05/2012 11:19

thanks everyone. I'm hoping to get the lawn mower fixed as we can't afford a new one. I might be able to borrow my mum's, but I'm worried that I might break that as well. We need one of those mowers that you sit in and drive around. haha My children are 4yo and 9mo.

Gem with dcs that age you're under the cosh! One thing at a time.

BertieBotts · 27/05/2012 15:06

Generally rubbishly! But a little better at the moment.

I hate the relentless feeling of being behind with everything, oh, and knowing certain things could be easier/I could eliminate some stresses if we just had some spare money :(

You have a garden, so I'd put all the clothes in one massive pile, and then stick them through the wash on a quick cycle (mine takes 30 minutes) - seems to get them just as clean, and then you can get as many loads done as possible and hang it all out in the sun, even if that means draping some things over fences/on the lawn/on chairs etc.
