Summer playschemes/ camps for pre-schoolers?

Anyone know of any summer camps or playschemes for pre-schoolers? My DD's pre-school is closed over the summer and as I have a newborn DD I was looking for activities she could go along to for a morning or afternoon without me being there too, but there doesn't seem to be anything. Anyone know why?

Most things seem to cater for school age kids but my ds who is four will be doing tennis club for week, it's only mornings and loads of fun. Try looking for stuff like that?

I think leisure centres often do stuff, failing that ask at local nurseries if they have holiday clubs.

You could try the local council website & see if they put anything on
Or your local children's centre
You'd probably have to go too though at that age
Perhaps you found use private nursery for a couple of mornings a week over the summer?

I suppose it depends on how many hours of care you are looking for. How old is your dd? If she is under four then I imagine your best bet is to look at day nurseries.

My son did mad science at three years old and loved it.

Once your lo is four years old then you have a more choice. Have you looked at your local sports centres for courses.

SCL do them from 4 - both my two (4 & 5) do their Club Energy holiday schemes and love it. But that would obviously depend on age of your DD.

Playschemes round here will often take from 4 yrs; a private nursery which has lots of children who do only termtime funded hours might also be an option

She'll be three in a few week's time. She loves interacting with other LOs and gets very bored when I'm busy with baby. I've tried the nurseries here but they're all booked and have waiting lists (some for two years!). Think I'll just have to arrange some play dates with friends. It's going to be a long summer!

Maybe look for things that entertain her with organised group stuff while you stay but don't have to get too involved. Check your local library for story times, drama type sessions etc. Local parent magazines can be a good source of info too.

I've got a few options near us for 4yrs +. I always saw it as a good reason to relax and not have to rush out the house first thing in the morning, there are plenty of toddler groups/parks/libraries to keep us busy.

You've got years ahead of you worrying about keeping your dc's busy in the school holidays, it's a bit early to start at 3 isn't it?!
