Sun protection

Ok, so today is the first sniff of summer since DTs were born, they are now nearly ten months. What do you do for sun protection - obviously not going to be putting them in the garden in the middle of the day for a sunbathing session but what about when you're out and about in the buggy - sun cream, do they need to have long sleeves on? They have muslin shades for the buggy but there is normally a foot or hand poking out:)

well a little sunshine is good for them. When mine were younger i would ensure they were slathered with high SPF factor 50 all over, and try to keep in the shade as much as possible. Gave up on hats as they never stayed on, always out them in short sleeves, etc. Common sense really, if i though they were getting a bit hot, then move them into much cooler place, keep putting cream on etc. And don't forget the water as they need more drinks in warm weather
Lastly, let them enjoy it. mine loved (and still do) splashing in the paddling pool and being outside.

Agree, sun cream 50+ and hat for buggy walks. Short sleeves good, as they overheat easily if more flesh is covered, but avoid prolonged full sun exoposure - under trees or using a tent/shade etc is better if sitting/playing out for long periods. They just get too hot if in full sun for 20 minutes+. If cheeks look red and tummy feels hot, they are probably too hot! Take plenty of water and juicy fruit as snacks.
