if your child is being quiet in another room ALWAYS investigate. No good can come of it.

Half a roll of toilet paper down the loo, thanks DS2.

Mine coloured the table in with a felt pen while I was in the kitchen last week. Little sod!

BellaBearisWideAwake · 17/05/2012 17:46

Was it artistic? My parents still have a chest of drawers that I drew a treasure map on when I was being quiet.

Alas it was just massive scribbles. He has also done the toilet-roll thing, and put the plug in the sink & run the tap...

Parenting rule number 2: it can be removed with a baby wipe Wink.
My worst was ds1 'cleaning' the bars of his cot with the loo brush. I'm ocd about cleaning at the best of times.

belindarose · 17/05/2012 19:28

Mine had let the dog out of his crate and back door yesterday during a 'quiet moment'. Usually it's eating toothpaste or decorating the house with loo roll. She had a lovely time with a box of breast pads last week and was so pleased to have 'circles' all over her room.

Memoo · 17/05/2012 19:35

My dd stuck sanitary towels all over the bedroom wall today. :D

Iggly · 17/05/2012 19:44

Wiping baby DD's face with a flash anti vac wipe. Ds was trying to be helpful. Had to give her a good clean to get the chemicals off Shock

suzikettles · 17/05/2012 19:46

Heh! My 94 yr old grandmother still tells the story of when she was looking after me while my mum was in hospital having my brother, and she made the mistake of sitting down with a cuppa while I played quietly in my room.

Apparently I came to the top of the stairs and shouted "don't come up and see what I'm doing grandma". She said she'd never moved so fast in her life (can't remember any more what it was I was doing, but it was messy).

MilkshakeMaker · 17/05/2012 20:28

Thats such a lovely story suzikettles!

Ds has done the loo roll down the toilet, eaten the tube of toothpaste, drawn all over himself the tv and the tv unit with a black marker, put his quilt in the bath as it was running(right before bedtime), hidden my bank cards(for weeks), rubbed his nappy cream into the carpet, and ate my face cream....

Blush i'll call social services myself!

Pozzled · 17/05/2012 20:34

I actually left DD1 quietly painting once, and turned my back to get on with something. She was about two and a half. Can't believe I was so stupid. Luckily we were out in the garden as it was a lovely day, but it took at least two showers and a bath until her arms and legs returned to her natural skin tones.

Smurfy1 · 17/05/2012 20:55

baby lotion and talc make a very hard to get out paste on carpet! I leant that one very quickly

queenofthepirates · 17/05/2012 20:57

DD has covered her head in yoghurt and I mean covered, all through her hair, in her ears and up her nose.

Oh you are all worrying me ! I have 20 month old GS until Sunday . I will have to watch him like a hawk. Generally he bumbles around quietly but will have to be aware that there are different types of quietness !

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 17/05/2012 21:20

I'm sorry. I don't understand. Quiet? What is this 'child being quiet' thing?

BertieBotts · 17/05/2012 21:25

DS is generally being good if he's being quiet, it's if he starts crying that I worry...

Grin I love your 3 year old logic, suzikettles!

MissPricklePants · 17/05/2012 21:28

my dd stuck sanitary towels all over my bedroom window!quite recently as they were planes, apparently!stood on storage box to reach all whilst i was brushing my teeth!

bigmouthstrikesagain · 17/05/2012 21:29

Suzi - very cunning you were Wink - my 3yo has a similar tactic - 'nothing to see Mummy nothing to see' - when actually there is a spilt cup of milk or trashed toy that I am mighty interested in seeing actually.

BellaBearisWideAwake · 17/05/2012 21:30

Also my 4yo: "We don't have to tell Daddy, do we Mummy?"

I wondered why 13m DD was quiet today while I was briefly on Facebook I assumed that she was in her room pulling all the clothes out of her drawers as usual Hmm... I found her at the bottom of the stairs swinging on the stairgate which I'd left open when carrying her up Shock Thankfully we've taught her how to go downstairs backwards and she'd abviously put it into practice.

Gapants · 17/05/2012 21:36

My DS (2) rubbed sudocream all over his legs and all over a sofa. In a holiday let we were staying in.

Loo roll down loo-check

Nail polish on walls- check
Compost all over the carpet-check
Eating chalk, felt tip pens- check

pmgkt · 17/05/2012 21:37

my 22 month old likes to be helpful, by putting things in the bin. he does it quietly so we dont know things are missing but it is the only explaination for the missing fridge magnets, puzzle pieces, garage keys including next doors spare key, and a £150 laser measure. either that or the fairies keep coming.

BellaBearisWideAwake · 17/05/2012 21:42

my 13mo threw one of my trainers in the bin. At least we assume he did, we've never found it and it was a phase of his.

And I've just remembered our Sudocrem incident (everyone has one. And if you haven't, you will). 3x2yo. A big tub. Frickin' EVERYWHERE.

I still shudder at the memory of ds when he was about 2.5 yrs and very quiet for 10 mins or so while I was in another room with dd1. He had his wooden Thomas train set and cargo trucks on the window sill and very carefully filled each truck with poo harvested from his nappy. Confused I was very wary of quiet children after that!
