Silly / Embarrassing question.......

Am thinking about embarking on potty training with DS, but have one question which may be really silly, and I'm too embarrassed to ask my girlfriends, but knew you lovely ladies would help!!!
If, as I'm sure will happen, we're out and about somewhere, and DS decides he needs to wee NOW, and you end up doing it at the side of the road or whatever, what do you do with his willy? Do you hold it for him, or just let it dangle?
(am scurrying back to my desk in embarrassment!)

I'm glad you asked, I'd like to know too!!!

I posted the other day asking if he should sit on the potty or "point" at the potty!

Point it where you want the wee to go, if you just let it dangle he'll probably just do it on his trousers round his ankles or his shoes! Try and get him to thrust his bum forward as well

Emergency wees are so much easier with boys, believe me! As Furball says, hold it and point it, and don't forget to shake it at the end - I am serious - or he will get dribbles down his leg. Also, it is less discreet but easier to actually pull their trousers/pants down. As they finish and the stream slows down it starts to go all over the place - that's when they need to have their pelvis thrust forward. Sorry if tmi

I wouldn't have known this either!

I'd forgotten about potty training with a boy - having had two girls (who took aaaaages to get the hang of it) I am almost looking forward to it now!!

I've been advised to carry a jamjar when I start with DS .
Although with DD I never really found it a problem (trained for 9m now), I always ask her if she needs a wee whenever we are near a toilet. Did it once behind a bush at a bus stop but that was because I forgot to make her go before we left. I think it's a bit much to expect a 2yr old to remember all the time (that's why we;re the grownups) but now she knows there's a loo at the library she insists on using it every time .

make sure you point down any incline and with the wind !

The little bucket that you get matesers in is perfect for this. Has a handle and everything. But, first, of course you have to eat the chocolate!

with a little boy you just put your hand on their bottom and thrust it forward so that its angled towards the tree .. you don't have to hold their willy for them
