HELP! have I ruined my new wool wrap?

I have just bought my first wool wrap, a stacinator. I have read through all the advice pages on the nappy websites and thought I was doing the right thing.
I bought some white vegetable soap and hand washed the wrap. I couldn't find any shops (other than online) that sold lanolin so I used a free sample of lansinoh nipple treatment that I found in the cupboard. It said on it that it was 100% pure lanolin so I thought it would do the job.
I melted it in some very hot water then added enough cold water to cover the wrap and left it to soak for a few hours.
The lanolin went clumpy and stuck to the wrap, I tried rinsing again with the soap then I rolled it in a towel and put it on my airer last night. The room now stinks of wet sheep, the wrap is still wet and is really sticky when I touch it! will the stickiness go when it finally dries or have I ruined the most expensive wrap I have ever bought!

I vaguely remember that the wolcure I got with my bumpy wool wrap recommended rinsing in a weak vinegar solution- that might help.

I am fairly certain if you wash in mild soap powder (say dreft) it will wash out the lanolin.

Second the washing, you are actually supposed to mix the lanolin in a bowl of hot water and a drop of mild detergent, to emulsify the lanolin. Don't worry, I have done the same thing in the past and it was fine.
Once it has lanolised apparently it is good to cure it in cold water with a couple of teaspoons of vinegar.

I think I will wash it in the machine on a wool cycle and rinse with vinegar. Hopefully this will sort it out!

I have just started using wool and I do remember the first lanolising it came out abit sticky - I used it anyway and the next time I lanolised it wasn't anything like as sticky.

BTW Eucalan woolwash is v good and you can usually get it on ebay
