possible to get free samples for reusables?

I hope the title doesn't make me sound cheap. We want to use reusable nappies when the LO arrives and to buy a birth to toddler set if we can to save on costs, but I'd really like to be able to try some out before committing to any particular type. Do any companies send out free samples? Will trying out nappies before the baby's even here even give me an indication on the best type to use anyway?

I don't know if they still do, but The Nappy Lady used to sell beginner packs with a variety of different types so that you could try a few and see how you like them.
The pack is good value for what you get and is a good way to see what suits you and your baby.

some cloth nappy sites allow you to pay to try out a sample of nappies they sell.

then when you make your 1st order, your trial pack price (minus postage costs) is taken off your bill, so you can effectively try before you commit to buy, and only pay postage

(the trial nappies are not brand new but are in excellent and clean condition)

Do your local council run a scheme? Some do trial packs for free, locally to us the local wildlife trust run the nappy scheme and offer trial packs for free and them give you a voucher to claim back £30 from them once you have purchased your nappies.

Check if your local council has incentives to use them. Mine had nappy advisers who lent out a selection of nappies to try. They also gave cash back once I had bought nappies.

I run a nappy trial scheme in Oxfordshire where you can try nappies before you buy.

But I am also amazed at how many people expect that companies should supply a free sample to try before you buy. When you buy your pram you don;'t get to try it out before you buy. Ditto a new sofa. Ditto a Set of saucepans etc etc. You do your research and go for it. Or buy one from a selection of brands and then make a decision.

you say that but close pop-ins gave out free samples when they were new

i got a couple to my cuttent and old (parents) address
Bumgenius also gave me a free cloth nappy via a voucher in my bounty pregnancy book.

I agree with the principle about why should you expect to try before you buy, but the fact is that sometimes even cloth nappy manufacturers DO give free samples

Check out Fill Your Pants they do a trial of eight nappies for £10 I've just finished it and learnt loads! Do u have a dc that you will be trying out on tho? Because if not and you just want to look at some then you should find out about your nearest nappucino where there will be different nappies to view.

My local children's centre lends out a bucket of all different kinds of nappies to try for free to encourage real nappy use.
Try at your local children centre and see if they do the same!
