Waterproof dribble bibs and stay on socks

Firstly, please advise me if this should be posted somewhere else!

I've had a couple of ideas for creating the 2 items mentioned in my title, but just wanted to gather opinions in how useful you think they would be.

My DD2 is sooooo dribbly (lol autocorrect wanted me to say stubbly) at the moment and, even with dribble bibs, we're changing her tops and bibs multiple times throughout the day. Would anyone here be interested in dribble-style bibs that were a bit more waterproof?

And as for stay on socks...! Would you be willing to pay for socks that babies couldn't pull off within five seconds?

Before I start to spend time and money on this , I'd be really interested to hear your thoughts on these 2 ideas. Please do say if you think they're rubbish!!

I think there is a product that helps keep socks on....can't remember name or anything, sorry, but I think it goes over the top of the sock, so no extra layer, just makes it more secure. But if you can think of something better then I'm sure many parents would be interested Grin

Waterproof bibs, well, it depends on how they'd be made. I'd be reluctant on to put anything that was less breathable and would overheat baby.

these are the sock thingies
They look clever enough but I haven't tried them. Does anyone rate them?

welliesandpyjamas · 12/05/2012 09:09

Ha ha as it happens there are dribbleproof bibs on the too! Are you the inventor getting some extra publicity?! Grin

Thanks wellies. I've seen a couple of products to help socks stay on but if my idea works (the big unanswered question at the mo!), it would only involve the sock itself and not an additional product.

The bibs idea would hopefully not be hot and stuffy for baby but again I need to start putting time and effort into developing the idea!

Thanks again!

They already exist I'm afraid - Sock-Ons and Dribble-Ons. They're brilliant.

Pancakeflipper · 12/05/2012 09:23

I found Gap socks to be the best socks at staying on. They seemed to grip the ankle and never let go....

welliesandpyjamas · 12/05/2012 09:35

I've heard that about Gap socks too, pancake

Winter is easy though, just put tights on them Grin

Irnbru sounds interesting. At the risk of sounding boring though, I think you'd have to start with a lot of research, look carefully at everything that's on the market to see if your ideas are that different and then whether it is worth the investment of time and money.

NagooIsBuildingAnArk · 12/05/2012 09:47

I have bought a number of dribble bibs and they are all as good as each other IMO, the ones with the fleece are very good.

Baby Goo is a professional sock remover so I have to just put her in tights which she eats

Sock ons are great, and we used Bubba Bibs which are fleece backed and damn near waterproof - when DS was posetting they were invaluable and then when he was teething with his first teeth, we bought more - about 20 of them in total.

He won't wear them now, but he's 19mo and they still fit him - he just hates anything round his neck.

IrnBruAddict · 12/05/2012 10:30

Thanks everyone for your responses, they're all really helpful. I obviously need to do a lot of research but from what I've seen so far my ideas are different to what's already available. Whether anyone would buy them is of course the key!

Thank you again Smile

I bought these for my DD and they have a waterproof backing, so probably similar to what you are suggesting. They were good and looked very cute too.

bibs

lolajane2009 · 12/05/2012 21:28

i use sock ons and got a couple of dribble bibs

NoGoodAtHousework · 12/05/2012 21:47

I buy funky giraffe bibs, they're fleece lined. In sure a lot of these dribble bibs have been designed for parents to move away from 'waterproof' lined bibs so don't think this idea would work, unless you couldn't really tell?

LakeFlyPie · 12/05/2012 21:53

I second the fleece backed bibs (seem to be loads around these days, bandana style or otherwise) DS1 was ridiculously dribbly whilst teething.

Also second Gap socks, DS2 can remove them with a nonchalant grab and pull when he wants to but they stay on during general crawling and marauding around.

saladsandwich · 12/05/2012 23:22

bipi bibs and i use to get these little socks off the market for ds that where like a sock bootie, they dint move an inch

rhetorician · 12/05/2012 23:22

gap socks are the only ones that stay on - but dd2 (5 months) hates to be hot so 9 times out of 10 we let her go without. Not yet at the bib stage

roboneill02 · 30/04/2014 07:55

There a lot of waterproof dribble bibs, just search in many stores online that deals with baby bibs. Or just read the product reviews or you can choose what's store online based on their experiences. It is always better to have some quite information to someone but it's all up to you.
