Dual party invite - bigger present than usual?

Both my children have been invited to the same party - DH reckons we should just get a present costing the amount we would normally spend when one child is invited, but I think we should spend a bit more since both children are going.

What do other people think?

I would get a 'larger' present. In a way, the gift is kind of your 'entry ticket' to food and entertainment for each child.
However, if one child was invited to a party that was being shared between two children, I might split the amount spent in two, although would still probably end up spending a bit more.

I would just buy one normal present

I have invited two sisters to a party , each brought a separate present and card. I would not have minded at all if they'd shared!

My two have been invited together to parties and I've only done one present and card cos I hate wrapping but the present had two bits e.g. Two books or a book and a song CD. Maybe this might work?

I would buy 2 small gifts.

My DD had twins at her party and they bought her a gift each (a book and a necklace) although it wasn't specified which gift was from whom. DD would obviously give 2 gifts if she were invited to their party.

In your situation if your DCs are not twins it doesn't have quite the same implications, but imagine if by buying their friend one present, they then only received one present in return. It would seem a little odd.

Thanks... it's actually my older son's friend, but the younger one is invited along too to play with the birthday child's younger brother. I have one present already, but I might get something extra to make it about 1.5 times what I would normally spend.
