6 week old has suddenly stopped sleeping

My LO has slept and fed well from the start - then at 5 weeks she stopped sleeping from feed to feed at night. She started simply staying awake until the very early hours (4am at it's worst) and this has gone on for the past week. We've gone from having quite a good routine (Around midnight, 4am and 7am feeds - depending on the feed before) and now there seems to be no pattern and no routine.

The past few nights she has woken up screaming - she looks like she is in pain and I don't know what is wrong. Now she is doing the same thing during the day and she has stopped sleeping during the day as well.

I have no idea what to do, no idea where's it's all gone wrong and no idea how to put things back again! I'm feeling a little overwhelmed and a little desperate worrying that this is either a problem or that this is just going to continue.

Please help!!!

Probably a growth spurt - about right at 5-6 weeks. Just means she needs to feed more but will settle down again in time. Try not to worry but if she wont settle with milk and seems in pain best to get it checked at docs.

I didn't think growth spurts lasted over a week......at first that's what I thought it was but the fact it's just carried on is what is worrying me to be honest.

It depends whether she's had enough milk to get her growing done - do you feed her as long as she wants to nurse? Try winding her and then latching her on again and seeing if she feeds back to sleep.

Don't worry about 'losing' a routine - all routines are subject to change at short notice with small babies because they have no memories yet - they need what they need when they need it!
