With my first baby I used olive oil as a moisturiser after bath time. This was great but I'm wondering if anyone knows of any other moisturiser for new borns with a nice smell.
Many thanks

I think the advice is not to use anything on a baby's skin until at least a month. Hopefully someone far more knowledgable than me would tell you the pearls of wisdom.....!

WHy on earth does a newborn need a moisturiser?!

naturalbaby · 07/05/2012 20:19

Stick with olive oil for newborns. I had lots of baby massage oil which I used after baths that did the job. Later on when he started getting rough/dry patches when the weather turned cold I used Weleda Calendula cream and it's lovely lovely stuff.

Aveeno, or a tiny bit of Waitrose Baby Bottom Butter warmed in your hands. Both fantastic and minus any nasties. I used them on DS's ezcema and really awful cradle cap.

Grapeseed oil Doesn't smell so bad. Got mine from a health food shop

Weleda do a wonderful baby range, stocked at Waitrose and Boots, it smells lovely and not too heavy, not that newborns really need to smell like anything other than their lovely selves but a drop of the bath lotion can help tender new skin that might be a little dry.

If you can get it try Mustela - my French sil introduced it to me and it smells just gorgeous and seems to work well.

I use Johnson's Baby Lotion on my baby; it's mild on the skin and leaves a lovely smell whilst moisturizing.
