Any advice please - best cloth nappies for a 2 year old

Hello all - really grateful if you have any advice

My little girl turns 2 in 2 weeks but I'd say we are still a few months at least away from getting her out of nappies (small sibling due in October all being well which may or may not help!)

Since she was born we have, courtesy of a very generous grandparent, used a local nappy washing service, but we have just cancelled the direct debit as it was taken over by a complete bunch of cowboys and the service had become totally unreliable.

We'd like to invest in some that we can wash ourselves, but would appreciate any advice about what kind and how many to buy at this late (I hope) stage in her nappy-wearing life. The ones we had from the nappy service were bambinex but I was never blown away by them so suspect there are probably better out there.

Thanks in advance for your help!

We've had DS in cloth nappies about 75% of the time since the age of 8 months (we use disposables overnight and when the cloth ones are in the wash) but the second-hand fitted nappies we started with were getting very threadbare and we'd lost a few of them (think we must have thrown them away in a moment of tiredness) with DS at 2.3 showing no signs of being interested in potty training so we decided to get some more.

We bought some of these: tots bots bamboozles and have been really happy with them. They fit nicely whilst not having too much spare fabric where it isn't needed, are very absorbant and easy to launder. The great thing about them is that they can popper-down to a smaller size so if we end up having a DC2 at some point they will have a long and useful life.

Most days we only use 3 nappies though it occasionally goes up to five. How many you buy depends on: how often are you prepared to wash them, are you using them overnight, do you have a tumble drier, and how much do you care if you have to use a disposable every so often. If the answers are every day, no, yes and not much you could get away with 4. If the answers are once every 3 days, yes, no, and lots then you'd need at least 18. We are happy with 8.

Thank you, this is so helpful! I think we would probably do fine with 8 so will order those to begin with and see how we get on! Do you use them overnight by the way? We never have so far (have always been relaxed about 'mixing' with disposables) but maybe we should give it a try!
Thanks again

PS Sorry just reread your message and you clearly said you don't use them overnight! My brain is mush!

if you would like to try tots bots bamboozles with poppers i have 7 for sale

PM me if you are interested. (I was thinking £20 for all 7, or £3 each)

they are on a facebook group calles preloved cloth nappies

I also have bumbles for sale (8 of them i think... £2.50 each).... these nappies fold down to fit a tiny baby, then unfold and add a booster for a larger child. I have the popper ones. These have a pocket so can be boosted more if necessary (but are a pretty absorbant nappy anyway)... and are lovely because the whole of the inside of the nappy is lined with fleece so you dont need any extra liner (poo just rolls off fleece) and the whole nappy is stay dry.

Both of these nappies need wraps to work.

My DD is only 8m old but she wear the bamboozles over night un-boosted... she lasted 15 hours last week when the poor child was not changed upon waking as we both thought the other had / would

they can be boosted too if necessary

My nappies are all used, but bamboo especially takes a long time to reach full absorbancy, so having been used lots they are much more absorbant than if purchased new.

Bum genius are great.

Recently stopped using them at night (DS is 2.2) as they won't go 12 hours without leaking on a wriggly sleeper.
