I would recommend the priorifix for the recline. Lasted us nearly 4 years
There is a car seat section where there are some car seat experts

Hi Meg, please don't be in a rush to stop using your first rear facing car seat, as rear facing is 5 times safer. Which in real terms is the difference between walking away from a crash and not. Come on over to the car seat thread and repost as you will get more replies thereGrin. As long as your Ds is under 13 kg and his head is still with in his car seat shell its still useable. You can get group 1 rear facing seats which are like the FF ones but the other way!

ahh really? i thought when he reaches 1 you have to get a bigger one. 1 or 20lbs?? interesting x

i would recommend keeping him in the infant carrier as long as he fits it, and then getting an extended rear-facing car seat

info on rearfacing

in car safety centre in milton keynes sells a great range, and if you are close enough to visit then all the better as they're incredibly helpful

myson, are you in the US?

My 15month old is still in his infant rear facing seat, it's a 0+ up to 15lb. Get the next one up when the top of their head is over the top of the car seat, I think it's eye line level with the top of the car seat.

actually in an infant carrier they're only safe until the top of the head reaches the top of the seat.
or they get too heavy, whichever goes first

mejon · 05/05/2012 11:05

thisisyesterday - it is the top of the back of the seat or the top of the winged bits at the side which are a little bit higher on DD2's Maxi Cosi Cabrio? She's 15m and only just (or possibly not quite) 20lbs. She still has growing room in it so won't be moving her until she's completely outgrown it.

thisisyesterday · 05/05/2012 17:35

i would go with top of the back of the seat.

The Britax First Class is rear facing and forward facing, it also reclines.
You need to make sure whatever you buy suits your car, but this one is a good all rounder has a huggy thing in it too for when baby is small.
Seems very comfy and baby likes it too!

My DS stayed in his maxi cosi cabriofix infant carrier till 14 months, when it became too heavy to cart around easily, although he still had space at the top of his head. We got a BeSafe izi X3 (I think that's what it's called) from the Milton Keynes in car safety centre mentioned above. We tried foward and rear facing seats but wanted an isofix seat as it is so easy to fit, but our car is a slightly awkward size and only 1 rearward and 1 forward facing isofix actually fit properly. We decided to go with rear facing after looking at literature and websites. Plus the seat we picked can be used forward facing with a seatbelt, which is ideal for the grandparents' cars.
