to the doctors or not?

Ok I can't decide what to do for the best . . .
My 3 year old dd was sent home from nursery today with a very high temp - she seemed under the weather but calpol picked her up.
But 6 weeks ago she'd been under weather and went to see the doctor who said there was nothing wrong with her. But she spent about 3 weeks of having good and bad days but never herself before she stopped eating and had a horrible fever so we went the doctors who still couldn't find anything wrong but agreed she was ill, suggesting it could be a sinus infection. so she had antibiotics, which seemed to have cleared it until yesterday where the clingyness returned and obviously todays high temp.
Dd is not complaining of any pains or aches or sickness or anything, which makes it hard to know what is wrong or if it is the same as last time. but worried I'm starting to turn into the doctors nightmare patient versus wanting my happy and lively 3 year old back!

Don't worry about what the doctor thinks. If you think she needs a doctor, take her.

If her temperature is stable with the calpol and she is happy to go to bed, id not disturb her tonight but take her to the doctors in the morning. I had a cold virus not so long ago that followed the same sort of pattern, about three weeks of feeling like shit then i was better, then i went down with it again, but it went in a few days and wasn't so bad. DP had the same. I think it is quite common for infections to do this, its something to do with how our immune systems recognise the virus/bacteria, called antigenic shift (if i remember correctly).

But you are not a doctors nightmare, if your doctor makes you feel that way then he/she is a rubbish doctor. I took my DD to the doctor three times in one day once - the doctor was a lovely young man who said to me "if mum is worried that is enough for me, they are usually right" .

Always trust your instincts, if you think doctors then as tee said, take her - but wait til the morning unless of course you can't control her temp, she shies from light, rash etc etc then its A&E, but it doesn't sound like thats goin to happen so dont worry

Thanks. She went to sleep ok, and temp is still ok, thanks to the calpol, so I think I will try and get her an appointment tomorrow.
