my DD is 4 weeks old and weighs about 10lb4 now as was weighed by HV yesterday. she is still in size 1 newborn nappies but i'm wondering whether they are too small. they say they are fine up to 11bs. there are some red marks/indentations around her thighs but seem okay everywhere else. she is quite long and slim waist so they are fine round the waist its just round her chunky thighs that they seem a bit tight. they never leak and she seems to be okay wearing one all throughout the night with no leakage. i tried a size 2 just now but it looked massive on her. what do you think?

I never went by weight, I went by comfort and leaking, leaking was always my main reason to move up

plus a size 2 in one brand will fit completely differently to a size 2 in another brand, try a few different brands to see what shape suits your childs shape at this point in time, then swap unused ones with friends whose babies suit the other brands x

I rarely went by the weight on the pack, just moved up a size when they were no longer doing what they should do! :) With the looking massive thing, it's just because you're used to seeing tiny nappies on her. The size 2 will look 'normal' in no time.

You'll find the elastic marks happen even once they're in pants so if she seems fine, leave it a while.

I generally went with what physically fit, we always moved up a size when it became harder to reach the nappy round his legs and waist as he has a long torso. He usually has been in the biggest size for his weight.

Absorbency increases with the nappy size so I always go up as soon as the next size fits. So, I'd suggest buying a pack of the next size and trying them.

I moved up when they started leaking or were obviously too small.

My baby is 4.5months old and 9kg. He is in size 4+ nappies and 9-12month clothes.

My question is.... I sometimes find the nappies hard to put on. His belly kind of hangs over it when I sit him up and causes there to big a big fold in the front and the sides come loose. I'm concerned because he's only young still and as far as I know nappies only go up to size 6 and there is so long until he will be ready to be potty trained.

Has anyone any advise or tips? It's really frustrating me and causing me stress when im changing him. This is my first baby and I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong.

Agree with others that we move up when she starts to leak or they start looking small but a good rule of thumb is that they can start wearing the next size up as soon as they hit the low end of the weight threshold. We moved our daughter up to size 3 at 15lbs even though they technically are for 16+ and they are a little bug but it's fine
