How early do you do early potty training?

I met a Mexican in the USA who potty trained her child by 1 year which started me thinking I'd like to do that! then Tracy Hogg said to start at 9 months. then I looked on the internet and a lot of people said start between birth and 4/5 months - but then they said they weren't dry till 18mths - whereas I would prefer them to be dry by 1 year at least.

What is the best time to start if you're doing early training - has anyone done it? And what time can you get dry by, and how?

Just wondered MP, that's all. I just couldn't see how the going out thing worked. makes sense not to do it when out now explained.

We EC and we don't follow DD around with a potty and when we do potty her it is far quicker than a traditional potty change.

ECing rocks

DD has been ECed since 10 weeks old, now she is five months old and uses 1 to 3 cloth nappies a day as a backup to using the potty.

We have started EC as it seems to be called because my daughter seemed so much happier when not in a nappy. She's only 2 1/2 months old but signals clearly when she needs to pee and I figured as long as we're prepared for the extra effort keeping an eye out for her signals and soemtimes missing them there's nothing to lose, as millions of women eg in India have always used this method and it's better for the environment.

Our baby doesn't always make the potty so I'm glad our flat doesn't have carpet but she instinctly seems to wait until her babygro is undone, it's amazing.

I can understand anyone finding it too much effort though , and she's our first so I have more time on my hands
