Hello, i would like to give my vegetarian dd, age two an omega3 supplement but haven't a clue which one to go for that she will actually take IYKWIM? She already has a multivitamin which come in animal shapes which she is happy to crunch away on, the same range do an omega one too but they cost £25.00 for month and a halfs worth! Had a look in boots and the chewy ones all say for 3 plus.... Any thoughts would be appreciated!

She should be getting these oils from food at this age - eggs and oily fish.

Have you seen the eggs that are omeaga enriched? Marks and Spencer sell them, tescos used to but I think stopped.

Thanks for the replies I will look out for the eggs, she loves to eat a hard boiled egg and does have them regularly. We don't eat fish Octavia. She does eat omega rich seeds too, but I am worried this won't be enough!

I'd be more concerned about her iron, tbh - the iron in vegetables is very difficult for the body to extract. Even something iron-rich like green leafy veg has low bioavailability. Does she have a general multivitamin supplement? I'm sure when you consulted the GP they gave you some nutritional pointers. The eggs are a good source of omega-3 though.

you can get it in an liquid/syrup from boots. i was looking for chewable the other day myself but i couldnt find any without gelatine, in either boots or holland and barrat

We are in the same situation op. DS (2.5) is a pescaterian, but probably does not eat enough fish, so I would like to give him a supplement. Abidec omega 3/multivitamin liquid is good and DS likes it, but I wanted to move on to less messy tablets/chewy things. I have bought several different types of chewable omega 3 supplements for children and they ALL taste revolting (the fishiness "shines" through the fruitiness). DS won't touch them, so I tried them and they are terrible - and I'm not a fussy individual. Maybe I should look into the eggs. Wonder if Waitrose sells them. Will also search for the seeds..
