What sort of place can I take 20mo DS to wear him out in the hooning rain... that isn't soft play?

DS needs lots of exercise (like a dog Smile) and we have been going to play in the lovely local woods most days during the long spell of unseasonably good weather. He loves it and spends ages climbing and digging and just pottering about.

Now it is hooning with rain. I'm all for 'puddlesuit and wellies and out you go' but this is actual horizontal rain and I don't have a puddlesuit! Grin

Think I have DS has a few sensory issues and we are both he just seems really overloaded by soft play places. Any suggestions for alternatives?

A friend and I went to the local community centre the other day, intending to use the play area and have a cup of tea, but got caught in torrential downpour on the way there, so opted just for the tea. They have a sports hall for youth groups etc and nobody was using it, so we asked if we could - they gave us a little tent, a tricycle and a toy pushchair too, our toddlers had a whale of a time! :)

Children's centres aren't always big, but often have interesting indoor activities.
