It's not too bad in my experience. If you're travelling on your own and encounter stairs there is usually someone who will offer to help. While on the train you can either sit in an area for wheelchairs where there are some collapsible seats, or you just park the pram in the bit near the doors and take DC to sit with you in a seat (or in your arms, depending on how young your child is). Good luck!

the section with seating for the disabled normally has red flashes down the doors (or as the guard) and a disabled symbol on the doors/windows.

there will be plenty of space there for you to keep the pushchair up, but obviously you need to be prepared to put it down if someone disabled gets on and needs the space.

if that happens i would generally just move to the door area and keep pushchair up!
depends how big the pushchair is though, and how young the baby
