Best wet bags for dirty nappies (to fit in change bag)?

Hi all, I've conquered the nappy decision and now need to invest in a wet bag that I can put in a bag for use when out. Anyone have any recomendations on brands? Or guidance on what size I need?

I'm also a little concerned they may smell - is the case?

And do I need two if I need to wash the bag if it gets mucky?

Also using reusable wipes so they'll need to fit too.

Thanks in advance for any tips / links! Smile

I always used plastic carrier bags. I never bought a special bag for the purpose.
If it got smelly or dirty, I simply threw the bag away and used another one.
In general, they don't get particularly dirty or smelly. The poo can be folded inside the nappy, if it can't be flushed down a loo at the time of changing.
Wee stays soaked into the nappy and doesn't smell too much.
I too used reusable wipes. I simply rolled them up inside the nappy and put them in the bag together.

Monkeyfoot wetbags are great, but not cheap. Lots of pretty patterns, secure, no smell/leaks. I think I've got the mediums and they'll fit two nappies in easily.

Thanks! I like the look of the Monkeyfoot bags...

I use Monkeyfoot mostly, a small one for out and about and two large ones for hanging next to the changing unit. They're sometimes sold second hand which reduces the cost.

I used a stinky minky bag for mine, with an extra carrier bag available for real emergencies. It cost about £5. It is still going strong as a swimming bag- nearly 5 years after DS stopped wearing nappies!

Hi Craftymoo, I saw the Itti Bitti Minki Wetbags on Amazon and I like the look of them. Are they really stinky though?

Would rather something that keeps odour in! Smile

I have MF bags in different sizes (all bought of CNT second-hand so not too pricy) and love them. I use the giant ones in the bathroom at home instead of a bucket, medium ones for changingbags if out for the day, and a little one if just popping out or for wipes etc.

If they get full and bulky you can use the popper strap to attach it to the outside of your changing bag.

No problems with smells or leaks here.

i love itti bitti and planet wise

TenaciousOne · 07/05/2012 12:44

Itti bittis keep the smell in, a little ahem too well, Ive found a wet bag a couples later (that'll teach me to have more than one changing bag)

Apparantly primark are selling bikini bags which my friend who uses cloth nappies is using as nappy bags. Only £1.50 each, different colours and patterns.

I've got a lollipop wetbag which fits two nappies. I nearly got rid of it because the drawstring was constantly sticking on the PUL lining and not closing! Then I put some silicone on it and it's fine now. Drawstrings are never going to be 100% smell-proof but TBH, it's not an issue.

Ninnyping · 06/06/2012 21:08

Ah, I have the sticky drawstring problem. Where do I get silicone from?

CMOTDibbler · 06/06/2012 21:17

ziploc bag - keeps all smells in, can be binned when grim
