How much does it cost for baby nappies and food weekly?

We are expecting to have our first baby within this month. We would like to know an estimate cost based on what it has cost you? Is there any inexpensive place or brands to buy baby nappies? Your input would be much appreciated!

Someone told me disposable nappies cost £15 a week. I wouldn't really know as I used cloth.

Couple of hundred pounds and I was set up for two DCs. It's worth thinking about, saves a fortune and saves the planet (and we're not talking nappy pins and terry squares, shaped nappies are just as easy as disposables, you just then wash and re-use).

I think in the early days we used an average of 7 nappies a day, so around 50 nappies a week. This would be around £8-10 I think depending on brand
You can get good deals on nappies in supermarket baby events, but they rarely include newborn nappy sizes.
Not sure what you mean re food. If you are referring to formula then thismis around £9 a tin(aptamil) and would go through a box a week on average.
If you are referring to actual food for weaning age, then the baby can eat what you eat (minus salt and honey) so not very much, unless you want to buy specific things.

Since I had my ds 5 months ago there have always been offers in different supermarkets of two boxes of 80 or so nappies each for £14/£15. These tend to last about 4 weeks. I think asda have the offer at the moment.

Any particular reason you have linked the word nappies to a random toy website?

Try a few different brand nappies - I bought Huggies & Pampers in advance at great expense until I was advised to try Asda or Aldi own brands (they're pretty much the same). I've been using them for 3 weeks now and had no leaks and they are considerably cheaper than the big brands. Not all nappies will suit all babies so get a pack of each brand and see which you like.

Definitely don't use branded nappies. Tesco or asda own are best we found, ds has had all types. The other are much worse absorbancy etc. And more expensive anyway.
To start with we used about 6 nappies a day, until about 3 months probs, then 4 a day i think.
At the moment we buy tesco big packs of size 5, that's about 96 nappies for £10. Am average of 11pence a nappy is good to aim for when buying.

We used about 1 tin formula a week, £8. That was at about 3-11 months.
