LOL. Just lol.

Sorry, I don't mean to be rude but really this is not a concern. Your problem is going to be how to breastfeed your newborn while amusing your 18 month old. Your problem is going to be trying to get two babies to sleep at the same time. Your problem is going to be washing and drying two loads of laundry a day.

Not whether you can get a haircut.

On the upside, you will manage all of the above, and you can probably get a pedicure in December.

Do you have a partner?
Can't he look after your 17 month old while you get a hair cut? Pedicure etc?

Gumby · 20/04/2012 06:59

I didn't, sorry but the truth. I now have 3 six and under and once in a blue moon I get an hour or so to myself. It's getting better as they get older though.

Depends on your support network, mines non existent. Mobile hairdressers are life saver!!!

Igglefriggle · 20/04/2012 20:30

Well, I disagree with the previous posters. it IS possible to get some you time - id say its essential.

I have 2 DC. I got mobile beutician round, DC2 was 2 weeks old. Made me feel better having nice hands and feet. Same with hairdresser. Resumed running at 6 weeks PN check. Totally possible if DH is on side. Seriously, you'd think you were giving birth to a bomb or something.....People love to big up how much work it is. Yeah, true - more babies = more work, but once the dust has settled, you'll be able to grab an hour here and there. Put the toddler to bed, have that relaxing bath. Some daddy and toddler time = haircut and shopping, simples. Fret not OP!!

Igglefriggle · 20/04/2012 20:30

Beautician.....

feelinghappynow · 20/04/2012 20:39

Disagree all you want but if you're on you're own then its very very difficult.

Mobile is the way to go, and it saves a fortune!!

I have 2 girls 21mths apart.
It is hard finding the time for you. I have no family nearby to help and DH has a long commute every day.

Its only recently that ive really started to notice that im doing more for me.The girls are now 3.8 and 23mths.
Ive found more time to exercise etc.

Previously, hairdressers probably about once a year! Fingers/toes painted myself every now and again.. usually on occasions/days out as normal days of washing etc meant it never lasted anyway.

In all honesty I could of spent more time on me as DH would happily of had the DC whilst I went to the hairdressers but it really wasn't a priority then. Guess it depends what you are like before DC really. ( Ie some people wouldn't dream of leaving the house without a full face of make up)

Igglefriggle · 20/04/2012 20:59

I only have DH. No parents, family, nursery etc. Pals dont really have DC so no help there.

Just answering OP from my experience feeling....

WizzyBizzy · 20/04/2012 21:04

I haven't had my haircut since before DC2 was born (6 months) and my god you should see my eyebrows and nails.... Anyway, it's basically about priorities. If you want to do it, you'll find time and a way to do it. Frankly I don't give (much) of a toss about things like that, so it never seems to reach the top of the to-do list. But I could spend less time on mumsnet at playgroups, or cleaning the kitchen floor and make time. I actually think the mobile beautician, hairdresser is a great idea - in fact I will deffo look into that. A friend bought be a voucher for an at home massage after DC1 was born and it was fab.

Thank you all for your comments, all taken on board.
DP has said when he's back home he can't wait to ease the pressure a bit. And to let me have an un-interrupted HOT bath. :)

It is hard finding the time when doing it alone, but me personally I like to feel good about myself, my children will always come first but i do believe that taking care of yourself/treating yourself once ina while is a good thing to stick to and i know there are different levels to this i guess, but i dont want to get to the point of letting myself go.

Athe the moment, when DD is in bed, I attempt to do my nails (very tough doing my feet with this bump in the way!lol) and I am booking my haircut tomorrow (thankfully DPs cousin is mobile) its not been touched in like 8/9months!
