Thats it, really. I've heard bamboo is the way to go. Any brand recommendations, MN?

I just use old scraps of cloth - cut up stained baby gros, scraps of old terries, even some of DP's holey boxers cut up. Couldn't see the point of buying any!

I have lots of wipes

I sewed some really pretty ones when pg.... all combinations of fleece / microfiber / pretty cotton / terry towel (double sided)

then I also cut up a few terry squares to make 9 smaller squares.... not sure why i bothered with all the sewing... these cut up terry squares are by far the best and my wipes of choice. I dip them in water, normally 1 wipe is plenty, and they dry so fast.

They are still going strong now DD is 7m old, and i am proud to have never bought any expensive baby wipes.

I used so many wipes in my 10 year nannying career, but the cut up terry towel nappies would be my wipes of choice

(oh and if im out and about and they get REALLY gross (which has only happened once so far, i was at the airport about to get on a plane and had DD in a disposable (she has worn

Definately not the Cheeky Wipes complete kit. The lid is broken already (I'm still pregnant Hmm). I would buy a cheap tub to keep them in and cut up an old towel.

MayaAngelCool · 18/04/2012 20:08

Thanks for your tips, ladies! Had never thought of using old cloth scraps before. And I will avoid the Cheeky Wipes kit like the plague!

i like cheeky wipes tbh. have an older kit and it is fab although i use cj carcass cleaner with it and use planet wise wipes holder when i go out.

HelloShitty · 19/04/2012 19:07

My son is nearly 3 and my Cheeky Wipes kit is still going strong. They must have been through the wash a thousand times by now and they're still more than up for the job. But, as Wantanorange says, a couple of dozen small flannels and a plastic box will do the same job. I never got on with fleece wipes which others seem to love - they just don't have the traction to scrub dirty bums.

cerealqueen · 21/04/2012 14:35

The babykind website sell the fleece and terry ones, as does a seller on EBAY. We keep them in a tupperware with a weak camomile tea solution with a few drops of tea tree and lavender oils. Fleece on its own won't do a sticky poo IMHO.

DaisySteiner · 21/04/2012 14:41

I used to use Ikea facecloths Cheap as chips and work a treat just with warm water. Personally couldn't be doing with the faff of making up a box of solution and a quick go under the hot tap meant at least it was warm on the bottom Grin

TinyDiamond · 25/04/2012 13:33

Flannels here or cut up muslins. Love fleece for liners but hate for wipes it spreads the poo around

BornToFolk · 25/04/2012 13:37

Tesco 20p white face cloths and a tub of plain water. I used one wet to clean, then a fresh one to dry.

MousyMouse · 25/04/2012 13:38

I just used cheap flannels and warm water from the tap.

Whilst u can do it much cheaper i do like the cheeky wipes system- the boxes are perfectly sized and the bags for out and about are really useful.
