liners for newborn poo

I didn't used cloth nappies for DS until weaning, when the poo got more solid. I was just wondering if it's worth using liners in an AIO nappy - I use papery ones and imagine the newborn poo would just sort of soak through?

I've been using fleece liners - mainly to fend off some of the stains rather than any other reason.

I use Tesco liners and they do a great job of catching ebf baby poo. The liquid still soaks through to stain the nappy (which washes out) but most of the poo itself is caught by the liner.

i never bothered with liners

not DD is 6m i use a fleece liner on my non fleece nappies, and no liners on the fleece ones...

newborn poo just washes out

i put the machine on a rinse setting first, then a decent wash and they are clean as a whistle

Same question! Have no idea on liners...

We didn't bother with liners for first few weeks. But now dd (8wk) is on gaviscon n her pops more solid so the liners doin a good job of catching it

it does leak through.

we use paper liners, most of the icky gets caught, but it does leak through.

however - we ran out of liners and tried without for a little while, and oh my god! the mess!! Shock

I never used liners in DDs nappies when she was being EBF. Nor did I indulge in any poo scraping. Straight in bucket, then in wash with a prerinse and extra long cycle with extra rinsing. Worked fine and I don't think the machine is full of poo

I don't use liners for breastmilk poo. It just washes out. I start to use liners when weaning onto solids.

see, I've found it doesn't wash out as well without the liners.

when we use the liner, most of the mess goes straight into the bin/compost.
then there's a little bit of colouring on the nappy itself.
when we didn't use the liners, the nappies were covered in poo, and they didn't wash out first time.
(we use a normal 60degree wash without a pre-wash and it wasn't enough when there was no liner)

I don't want to do an extra-long wash with pre-rinse and extra rinsing - I did cloth nappies to save the environment!
