Leaking nappies at night

DS is 22 months and we have just started to find his nappies leaking at night and him soaked when we go to tuck him in around 10pm. They have always been full to bursting in the morning but have never leaked before this past week or so.

He wears pampers baby dry size 6 so there is nothing bigger to try in their range.

Willy always pointing down so it's not that!

Just try another brand or any other ideas? He doesn't have a bedtime bottle or anything, just drinks with meals and earlier in day. Never happened with DD!

I used to change the nappy just before I went to bed, that helped.

more drinks during the day, so that most 'is through' before bedtime?
different brand of nappies might help too, maybe add a liner (the kind for cloth nappies)?

Try the 'Active Fit' rather than the baby dry- I had the same problem with DS many moons ago- he was a very squirmy babe even in his sleep and the sides of the nappy seemed to fit better on the active fit and stopped leaks.

Just went to check him and all wet already down one side. So, new nappy, new pj's etc - fortunatly he slept through it all!

Time to try active fit and Aldi's own brand then. He is a thirsty boy right now but drinks loads in the morning and early afternoon and pees away all day so can't imagine he has much left by evening. Only has one drink with his meal at 5ish then that's it.

Ah, could be worse, could be co sleeping with the soggy bottom boy Grin

We found supermarket own brand nappies much less likely to leak than Pampers. (Didn't matter which supermarket.)

Oh, glad to know about Aldi. Are the size 5 ALDI equivilent to pampers size 6? Only reason I haven't tried them is I thought they didn't go large enough. Time for an experiment!

This happened with my ds also. It sounds odd but sometimes we would put 2 nappies on, this seemed to work. It saved having to wake him to change.

I use lollipop reusable nappies and a wrap with a muslin to boost it. Seems to do the trick. DS was in them until he was nearly 3.

a really simple but effective idea suggested by my mum when my DS's nappies leaked (wet) up his back. -Put 2 on!!! obviously not if baby is sore but for the sake of a dry night it is worth a try. Your going to use 2 if you change him anyway so try 2 at once- mad but it worked for me!

Lovethesea · 12/04/2012 22:27

Ah! Genuis idea, two nappies would not have occurred to me. Right, off to see if he's leaking already before I head to bed. He never wakes but it must be so cold to sleep all wet poor soul. Maybe I'll slip another one on the top tonight. I put a popper vest on too in case he's been shoving his hand down the nappy in the night.

Ironically I've a 3andhalf year old who has been toilet trained for a year and she has never wet the bed - I can't believe the one still in nappies has me changing sheets at midnight!
