swim nappies!

hello - this is probably discussed very often but I am looking on ebay for some swim nappies... I'd rather get re-useable ones but am a bit confused, my son is 5 months and we're planning to take him for his first swim soon. I have been reading about how various nappies 'catch' poo but I am breastfeeding and can't imagine his poo being catchable by a net liner! do i need to put him in a nappy plus a cover or will a good re-useable one be all i need? sorry if i sound thick!

I have always used Huggies little swimmers (I realise these are disposable and perhaps not at all what you want) plus a swim suit. I like Splash About ones as they are tight-fitting and don't let the leaks out. DD has never done a poo when when swimming though, and we've been going since she was 7 months.

Im a cloth nappy user

for swimming i use a huggies little swimmer with a happy nappy (swim nappy) on top.

As a nanny i tried a fair few swim nappies and i can vouch that little swimmers alone, and washable nappies alone do not contain poo Blush

with a washable over a disposable you have more of a chance to get out the pool (and cleaning the washable one is far more pleasnt when the worst is thrown in the bin!)

I second what nannyl has just said.

Most of the baby swimming classes insist upon a Huggies little swimmers with a Splash About Happy Nappy over. Provided both layers are the right size, leakage is very unlikely to happen.

Council run pools are less fussy, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

The fabric around the waist and legs does tend to deteriorate on the Happy Nappies, so second hand ones aren't often as trouble free as they could be.

swim nappys are generally designed fro solid waste only they cant absorb water very well or well run a nappy under the sink to find out

usually the outer shel of littleswimmers or the like is waxed to repel water from the outside

a vinyl swimcover over that should do the trick however reusable ones for that age are harder to find other then the afore mentioned ones
