Our little ones seem to be a right lazy bunch - they're all far too comfy inside to bother to show their faces! (apart from sprout, chanelno5 and ...duh, brain not working - isn't there another?) Hurry up and join us, you lot!

Oh, and remind us -

Sprout - xx days early/late - Miriam Eloise Harriet
Chanelno5 - xx days early/late - name??
monkey - 4 days late - Aidan.

Well done, Monkey, for starting this thread - I've been too brain-dead (or should that be brian ?) to work out where to start it.
Miriam was 5 days early, born 6th Nov and already an astonishing 3 weeks old. Feeding well, much calmer baby than dd1 (thank goodness!) but suffering from stomach cramps (colic??) the last few days.
How are the rest of you doing? Monkey, can you sit down yet??

monkey · 27/11/2003 10:49

I'm on one cheek as we speak!

Taking ds for his hip ultrasound on Monday, doubling up appointments with the other 2 for ear/eye infection follow-up checks (we're a healthy bunch). He's eating & sleeping so well - (10.30 till 3 am, then quick feed and more sleep till 6, then quick feed & more sleep till 8) can't complain at all, but how the hell will I get the other 2 to playgroup - I haven't hardly been dressed before midday yet!

Hi, I think I'm the other one! I sneaked over from october 'cos baby was so late - managed a couple of posts before she appeared 11 days late on 4/11. She's called Lydia Athene and weighed in at 9lb 8oz and now at 3 weeks is a hefty 11lb - no wonder I'm tired she's eating me alive!

This is my first week at home 'alone', and its going ok so far, even doing 3 school runs a day. Only managing by getting up far too early and sorting out clothes, lunches etc the night before. Good Luck when you try it.

How's everyone going?

Rhubarb · 01/12/2003 14:33

Mine is due around Saturday. The weekend just gone I got lots of Braxton Hicks and felt very unnerved and emotional so I really thought that it might be 'it'! But now everything has stopped! Although I do still feel a bit energetic and have just cleaned the oven! I'm hoping it will pop out before Sat as I'm all ready now (though very, very petrified too!)

How is WWW?

2under2 · 04/12/2003 10:22

monkey, how are you finding having 3? It's not been too bad here, ds is a very sleepy baby (apart from at night when he turns into a very hungry baby ), but dd2 broke out severely with the chicken pox the day after ds was born, so that's been a bit testing - we've been having to bathe her at 3am for a week. House is a mess and I am dreading dd1 breaking out in pox. Other than that ds seems to be living up to the '3rd babies fit right in' stuff I've been told.

WideWebWitch · 04/12/2003 10:59

Hi everyone, I'm thrilled to be able to join this thread at last. I've got Ava, who was born on 30th Nov, 9 days late. I'm feeling so much better today - my stomach muscles have recovered enough to get out of bed and life just seems peachy now I've got the birth out of the way Ava is a sleeper so far and has only been awake for about 3/4 hours out of the last 24. I know it won't last though but it's very nice while it does! She slept in with us last night from midnight until 6am when I brought her downstairs and she would have slept longer I'm sure but I was awake (I know, what am I on?) so we got up. It felt like having a present to unwrap coming down with her this morning, I'm very much enjoying these bliss hormones! She's had gunky eyes but the GP gave us drops and they're clearing up today. Rhubarb, are you still there? Any action yet? Sorry about your pox 2under2, what a PITA. Monkey, hope you lot all feel better soon too. I feel much more confident this time round, it's wonderful!

elliott · 04/12/2003 16:15

www, glad the birth ordeal hasn't stopped the post-birth euphoria kicking in! Things are pretty good here, though strangely it has been taking me a while to come around to ds2 - he just doesn't seem as cute as ds1 was! but he does seem much more chilled, and I do feel more confident and also more energetic. I have had some sleep (don't remember that from last time!) which helps a lot, though he seems to be getting a bit more interested in feeding so maybe the nights will start getting more lively soon....
I've got 2 hands free now so must go and do the birth story (especially before anyone gets the idea it was a stroll in the park - we are talking childbirth here, still the biggest, scariest most extreme experience going imo!!)

Grommit · 06/12/2003 16:42

Hello all - my first time posting on this thread. I am still a bit sore a week later and also a bit tired an emotional!! Baby is so good I cannot believe my luck and am waiting for him to change and start screaming! He feeds really well and sleeps most of the time - all through the night last night - please please make this last!!

susanmt · 09/12/2003 22:22

I can join you too! Rachel Jessie born 28th Nov, 3 weeks early due to medical reasons for induction. She is fab, but I am going to have to go and feed her now, but will be back at another time!!!

I feel better now

chanelno5 · 15/12/2003 18:37

elliott - thanks for doing another list. 7 girls and 7 boys, how well balanced is that! Hope you are all doing ok and that your little ones (and their brothers and sisters) are keeping you as busy as mine are

tinyfeet · 16/12/2003 00:52

Thanks, Elliott. I have nothing to say except that I haven't had her yet and do not seem to be progressing. Will let you know!

Grommit · 18/12/2003 16:08

how are all the babies doing? How are you all coping. Ds is now 3 weeks old and still sleeping alot but we are getting more awake restless periods. Finding it difficult giving dd (4) the usual attention. The first few months are never much fun...!

snowysam · 18/12/2003 16:57

We're doing fine. Lydia is 6 weeks old now, haven't had her weighed for a couple of weeks but she was a hefty 11 8 then. She's pretty good, typical baby though in that one minute she will be happy and smiling and then we will have 3 hours of colicy screamy hell......

Her brothers love her, even if her appearance has meant that mummy can now be a bit irrational and shouty. Never mind, in 5 or 6 weeks I'll look back and be very glad its over!

WickedXmasWitch · 19/12/2003 07:23

Hi everyone. We're doing OK although adjusting to life with 2 instead of 1 is taking some getting used to. I hate the school run, for instance, and can't wait for the end of term (today, hooray!) Dd is waking 2 or 3 times a night but a couple of nights has slept from 11pm - 5am, woo hoo! I am besotted with her though and finding it a million times easier than first time round. I just know that it does all go so quickly now whereas I didn't believe people who said "ooh, it'll all go so quickly" first time and the days at home seemed to drag back then (as they would if you were an unconfident first time mum who watched your child sleep and didn't think you could take a shower until the afternoon nap!) And I love buying pink and girly things! How is everyone else?

mumbojumbo · 19/12/2003 07:59

We are doing OK! DS2 is now nearly 6 weeks and is sooooo mellow! Slept between 1130 and 4.30 last night, so I even feel rested this morning. DS1 has taken to his brother and only shows the occasional bit of "jealousy" (seems a bit strong to use that word as he is only 23 months). On the whole, he does seem to have adjusted really well to having a baby brother. I'm doing my best to juggle having two to look after. Makes looking after one seem so easy now! Main thing for me at the moment is sorting out tandem feeding - it's working but I feel a bit like a cow and my body is not my own anymore!

karenanne · 19/12/2003 08:45

hi all just a quick posting to let you know tyler was born on dec 15th at 9.43am ..will post more later on but having a job sitting at the pc at the mo.
congrats to all who have had babies since i last was on here.

Grommit · 19/12/2003 08:55

Karenanne - congratulations! Eagerly awaiting all the details...

2under2 · 19/12/2003 10:08

ds is 3.5 weeks now - he's just started to be awake more but is being bloody demanding and seems to think that it's just outrageous when I want him to sit in the swing for a bit. He's quite regular with his night feeds now and wakes up every 3 hours, has a big guzzle and then goes back to sleep again. Was hoping to have him sleeping in the carry cot but I am too knackered for all that messing about so he sleeps next to me.
It's been reasonably easy so far having no.3, what's been really hard is that dd2 has been ill for a month now - we're now on to bad tonsillitis - and that's been very stressful. She's been sleeping very badly and some nights I feel that I might as well have not bothered with going to bed.
Dds 1&2 (they're 4 & 2.5 yrs old) are lovely with ds and there seems to be no jealousy at all - they're fascinated by ds - dd2 finds his willy particularly interesting and watches nappy changes with much interest .

susanmt · 19/12/2003 15:42

We're doing OK - Rachel slept from 1am-7am this morning so I feel a bit brighter today at least! She has fed half of today but I suppose that is a good thing as she should sleep again tonight ...... ha ha ha!
Dd1 and ds are doing really well with her altjough ds (not quite 2) is a bit rough sometimes. I keep finding it running through my head 'I have 3 children! I have 3 children UNDER 4!!!' I took them ALL to the nursery christmas party yesterday and was a quivering wreck by the time it was over, but today has been my first day on my own at home all day with all 3 and it has gone fine - feel like a pro - at one point I was b/f dd2, taking off ds's nappy and making snowflakes with dd1 ALL AT THE SAME TIME!
I'm really glad I upped the dose of my antidepressants before she was born as I have been feeling the strain a bit and know that if I wasn't on them I'd be really struggling by now. But I'm actually coping, which has come as a bit of a shock.
Physically I am doing really well, all healed up down below (feeling a bit 'tight', think I was well stitched!) and the kidneys have been ok, though I've got another infection at the moment and am on antibiotics, but the pain is nothing compared to before she wass born.

Must go - Rachel is asleep but ds is waking up!

GlitterGrommit · 01/01/2004 19:29

everyone is very quiet... how are you all doing. I am enjoying having my mum staying and dh home for 2 weeks - absolutely panicking about being on my own from next week and dh working away at least 3 days

2under2 · 06/01/2004 11:20

ds - 6 weeks today - still doesn't sleep very well at night, he has developed a horrible pattern of sleeping for 2 hours and then being up for 1.5 or so. Gruelling. He's very refluxy and every other night he'll throw up what looks like an entire feed and then start again from scratch. Am considering giving him a bottle last thing at night to see whether he'll go for a bit longer (and this is coming from a former militant breastfeeder! ) but I worry about messing up his digestive track/giving him allergies/reducing my supply. Don't think it'll be too long before I crack though.
On a positive note - he is a huge baby! He now weighs what dd2 weighed at 6 months (6.5 kg - don't know what that is in lbs). And of course he is very cute. Still no smiles though.

2under2 · 06/01/2004 11:21

tract even. I blame sleep deprivation.

elliott · 06/01/2004 22:29

2under2 (you should change your name you know - I keep forgetting its 3 now!) - sympathies re the nights - ds2 also usually awake for at least an hour but fortunately usually only once in the night. Was thinkign about starting a thread about pros and cons of a late bottle but since I can't even find time to post a proper update I may not get around to it until its irrelevant...
ds2 is 5 weeks today, things are generally fine if a bit knackering. Still have one sore nipple where the skin seems to have broken a bit and doesn't seem to be healing at all -any ideas folks??
