AA306 Shakespeare and A215 Creative Writing

I have 2 modules left to complete my Literature BA with the OU. I have already signed up for A215 Creative Writing to start in October and I will then need to do either AA306 Shakespeare which has a Feb intake or A300 20th Century Lit starting Oct 2013. Doing either AA306 or A300 is compulsory to get the BA.

Now, my heart is in doing the Shakespeare but that presents me with a problem. I either sign up to do it in Feb '13 and do it alongside the Creative Writing until May '13 or I have to wait until Feb '14 and then I won't be able to finish my degree until October '14. If I cross the modules over, it will be hard work for 3 months, but I will get my degree a year earlier in October '13.

Or I could do the 20th Century Lit, but I'd be pining for the Shakespeare if I'm honest.

Has anyone completed either of these courses? Would you cross them over or I am going to stress myself out?

I'm doing A215 with AA316 (19th c lit) at the moment, both were October starts. I think the workload is doable - although I'm a bit of a fly by the seat of my pants merchant rather than someone who methodically works through all the texts and course books - still, I've been doing TMAs for both with only a couple of days between deadlines and it's been OK really.

I think a three month cross over will be fine - esp as no exam for the A215 so you can even work ahead if you are organised. I think you'll be fine in any case though.

I'd say go for it. Also, I've heard the Shakespeare is fab. I'd definitely go with what your heart tells you on this one.

I'm going to do the Shakespeare next year alongside the level 3 creative writing!

I have done the creative writing course and it can expand to fill the time available if you want it to or you could get through it all fairly quickly depending on how much time you want to spend on the writing exercises. You could get as far ahead as possible with the creative writing before the Shakespeare starts and then that would take some of the pressure off. The hard bit is sharing your writing with other students - very scary!

Thanks for the replies - they are both what I wanted to hear! I'm fairly sure I can almost finish the creative writing ahead of time, but its reassuring to hear someone else confirm that it is possible.

I'm wowed that you have done 2 modules at once wildstrawberry - I'd struggle I think doing that all the way through. Are you considering the Children's Literature? Its the best course I have done so far!
