Hello
I have a ds who's 19m old - he's nowhere near ready to be potty trained yet but when he is I am hoping to do the 'gina ford potty training in 7 days' thing - I have some questions though hope you can help me! TIA

Should I buy a potty now and put him on it before the bath etc... to get him used to it or should I wait until he is ready and start then?

Also do you think it is better to have an actual potty and stick to that for a while or what about one of these with a step?

I would definitely buy a potty and encourage him to sit on it before bath, or whenever he fancies it (when you go to the loo etc).

Then WAIT until he shows signs of - interest, understanding e.g. has done a few accidental wees in there and is not telling you when he has weed/pooed in his nappy.
When he shows these signs (which you may not see until he's 2 1/2 - 3 years.) start giving him time in the day without a nappy on and suggesting he sits on the potty every now and then. Let him get the hang of this, then decide when to lose the nappies for good!

I can't see your link, but i would just stick with your average potty, i found it useful to have two, one for upstairs and one for down.

HTH!

Sorry seen your link now! .

I didn't buy one of those seats, my dd just used an ordinary seat, but i know other children who have been afraid of falling down the loo and so prefered to use those seats.
I think if your son is happy with normal loo seat a) its easier for you and b) he will then feel ok about using toilet seats in friends houses and public loos without a worry.
