Help! 11 month old throwing up every evening

I posted over the weekend because dd had a high temp that I was struggling to get down and she had also been sick. We saw the out of hours doc who said she just had a virus.

Since, she has been totally herself during the day, temp back to normal, appetite fine, but each evening or night she has puked everything up, including what she had for lunch almost 12 hours previous. Last night she woke up at 2.30 and it was obvious she had been sick hours before as she had been sleeping in it and it was all dry in her hair and on her face, ( I had been unwell and went to bed at 9pm, I checked on her then and she was fine).

So it's just once a day but every day for the past 3 days, this evening I noticed it started with hiccups, then coughing then threw up everywhere.

I'm really struggling to keep her hydrated, we are trying to avoid milk just in case that may be the culprit, but her nappy this morning was almost empty. Sad

Anyone with similar experience please.

It's not what you want to hear but I would take her to A&E. If this has been going on for 3 days and she is showing signs of dehydration then she might need IV fluids. I hope she's better soon (and you too!).

Thank you, my fingers are crossed that it's over, she was ravenous last night so I decided to give her formula with a bit of extra water. I thought that some fluids in her for even a few hours is better than nothing, it's all stayed in so far, but it has been in the evenings that she has been sick so we will see tonight.

She has had very bland food today and luckily plenty of water, let's see Smile

This sounds very familiar! My DS has had a couple of episodes very similar to this. It went on for 3 months with DS (but I'm sure it won't be the same with your DD, his problems were compounded by allergies) so we saw a consultant and he explained that after a bug sometimes kiddies get temporary problems keeping food down when they get too full (it has a technical name but I can't remember it).
Anyway the key thing is to keep their fluids up without giving them tons of liquid in one go as that tends to make the puking worse. We used dioraylite which we were told to give 5ml of in a syringe every five minutes until they have had a reasonable amount. This should prevent her getting too dehydrated.
Good luck!

OP just wondering if your DD is now better? We have had almost exactly same problem this week with 21 month DS2. He is also getting over a virus, is fine during the day (including very keen to eat and drink!) but vomiting during the night - basically undigested food. Hoping it is going to resolve but would be interested to know how you got on.

Thanks
