Midwifery applications

Hi, I'm wondering if someone can help please. I'm getting ready to apply for a diploma program starting in Sept 2007 but have had contradictory info about when I can actually send in my application. NMAS said I can apply now, but when I called one of the colleges they said they werent taking 2007 applications yet and werent sure when they would. Does anyone know roughly when I can apply, and whether sending the form in early would be a bad thing?

Many thanks in advance

I think it is too early for 2007 applications, they usually start accepting them in the September before the course starts (ie Sept 06).

I would wait, as long as it in for Autumn 06 there shouldn't be an issue

Great, thanks very much, i was told they can take ages to process so panicked a bit Thanks again

I've decided to apply for 2007 too. Am I too late for Feb 07? I want to do the diploma, which has two intakes.

I've started filling in my online application etc.
Bit stuck on my statement though - any advice??

Can anyone give me a rough idea of their current timetable? (I think I've asked this before) I know full time really is full time, but just wondered, roughly, what am I looking for? Childcare every day?

I have ds in f/t sch, dd due to start p/t nursery, Jan 07, f/t from Sept 07. I realise I won't be able to take and pick them up every day but can anyone give me an idea of a typical timetable?

I'm a single mum btw - am I mad???

Timetable is very variable depending on where you are studying and practicing. Where I am training the uni time is quite gentle - 2-3 days per week 9-5 or leaving earlier than that. Community placements are 4 days per week 9-5 and hospital placements are 12 hour shifts day or night 2-3 per week. Some hospitals do 8 hr shifts so then you would do 4 per week. I think is is very unlikely that you would get set days so your childcare has to be really flexable. I am lucky enough to have a live in nanny which is why I can do it but otherwise you need some very helpful parents or relatives.

Thanks Smile

Have just rung the university again and they seem almost dismissive of parents wanting to do it. I feel like I'm fighting a loosing battle Sad

Don't really have anyone flexible enough to be able to cover for me on a full time basis so looks as though I'm stuck Sad

Hiya, Im anougher applying for the sept 2007 intake and Im sending my application in sept/oct. I think UWE deadline is 15th dec but I would imagen that would be the case for most uni's
I just have to come up with a backup plan now as if I dont get in, I'll be gutted.
I just heard that UWE had 500 people apply for sept 06 intake and theres 49 places, so that means over 10 people appying for each place on the course!!!Sad Omg! It makes me want to give up now, but I keep reminding myself how much I want this and how much Ive done/am doing to try and show the uni that.....

Has anyone done/recieved the biographical Questionaire yet?
