Has anyone been and would you say it is suitable for a 2.5yr old? I get the impression that maybe she would be too young to go on many of the rides/things there etc, but as it is just down the road from where we live I don't want to leave it and miss out on what might actually be the ideal age to take her. Any view appreciated.

Given the high entrance fee I would wait until they are about 4 or 5. There are attractions for smaller children and the model village and the gardens are very nice but it's an expensive day out if you don't make full use of the park.

I took my DD at that age and she loved it!! In this weather take a swimming cossie because there are play fountains to run through etc, I thought there was quite a lot for us to do - WH smith are giving 2 for 1 vouchers at the moment with a purchase. It was a great day- does she remember it now age 6? no, but I like to think it's the experiences that shape them! I use it as a desperate excuse not to go to the little farm down the road- AGAIN!

2.5 is the perfect age as they get in free. Tons to do, get an annual pass with nectar / tesco points, you won't regret it. Especially if you can go on weekdays and miss the crowds.
