hi
DD is still wetting since being trained last summer. Her twin is operfect however. Begining to think she is controlling me with it. She does it everyday at least once more oftenly 4/5 times. It's driving me mad and I sometimes lose it with her - just shouting and time out. I've tried every thing but nothing seems to work. The doctors have cleared her for an infections and have referred her for a kidney scan. I have a date for the scan but I'm worried I am wasting their time as I'm nearly sure it has nothing to do with that, it's almost definitely behavioural. Unless there's something else medically wrong with her. She just wets standing there beside you, not busy not lazy just doesn't seem to notice. BTW she was dry for 2 months and is still dry at night. HELP!!!

Could you try getting her to do a lot of the cleaning up involved, eg, putting her clothes in the bucket to soak, fetching her own change of clothes, etc? Just thinking that if she is doing it for attention, you should avoid getting upset with her and should make her do more of the work towards cleaning up.

At the same time, give lots of positive attention for when she is not wetting. Some people swear by star charts: she has a star for every day (or so many hours) she goes without wetting and so many stars add up to a treat. Might work.

can sympathise cos I have same problme with DS

I calmly ask hin to put wet clothes in laundry basket & get clean ones, which he does so that doesnt make him stay dry

I too have wondered whether medical problem....I cant blame it on H leaving home cos hes always been like this.
I find it frustrating but am at a loss - stars, chocolate buttons just dont work either

will see what others suggest

thanks

I have done sticker charts i have done the candle thing(blow one out every time she goes) I have even done the clikets bracelet thing ( Lego add on jewellery) They worked for a day or two till she lost interest and didn't really care about her bracelet or the candle. I do make her change herself, and she ends up running around in pants all day cause I just can't bear the thought of more and more washing. She stood cleaning her teeth last night and wet whilst doing it! I shall try the ignoring thing again and ANOTHER sticker chart unless anyone else has any more suggestions. I'm going to give my HV a ring tomorrow to see if she has any decent ideas. I think I'm going to cancel the scan - it's pointless IMO What do you think. TFL

Star chart worked getting my nearly 4 year old to poo in the toilet - worked like magic, hardly any accidents.

Saying that he is still a terror and occasionally pees himself and getting him to pee in the toilet and not on the floor is a continous battle.

But he is nearly always dry at night - maybe only wet himself three times at night

I started a similar thread regarding exactly the same problem last week!! I totally sympathise. I have also tried everything from star charts to bribes (which I said I would never do), still with no success. What annoys me with my DD is she went for months after her 2nd birthday with no accidents at all, and now wets all the time. However, she doesn't wet enough to leak or make a mess, it is purely as if she hasn't got to the toilet in time!! Also, she is quite happy to play in wet knickers - It doesn't bother her one bit. Looking forward to more suggestions and thinking of you all.

It's good to know that I'm not the only one dealing with this. You forget and think it's something you have done. DD was also dry with no accidents for 2 months so I know she can do it. She is also dry all night (I lift her before I go to bed) She never has accidents first thing in the morning - she goes straight to the loo, it's later in the day that the fun begins. She also does the wet pants thing - on a good day - but also fully soaks herself on bad days. thanks for all the support
