Potty training - How do u know they're ready?

DD is 2.3 and has just started telling me when she has pooed - occasionally takes off her nappy when it is wet but there again will sit in a very wet pooey nappy for an hour (Obviously if it is not smelly) without bothering.

Should I just wait for her to tell me more often?
Have sat her on potty/loo seat - but have never had success - will just go a couple of mins later.

I cant offer you advice on when to start as i am currently in the same situation as you. My ds is 2.3 and is showing the same signs that your dd is but i am not sure if he is 100% ready yet.

My oldest son took to toilet training really quickly but after a 5yr gap i cant remember how i did it.

The other day i found potty training tips on www.nickjr.com. It gives you 3 or 4 different methods along with printable charts, stories etc to amuse your child while you are doing it. I dont know if that will help in any way but i may give it a go. I need to get ds clean by May at the latest so im willing to try anything.

After all that she asked to go for a wee this morning and did one - first ever!! I'll just carry on trying - must read Cod's nappy training thread.

We used to put dd on her potty when we were putting her in her PJs. We started when she done wee's and poo's on it 3 nights in a row and on the 4th night went and did it of her own accord. I would say it's worth trying and if it's a complete disaster just stop and try again later.
