Can one adult take to children swimming?

Dds are 2yo and nearly 4 yo. DD1 can stand on the bottom of a childrens pool.

Can I take them on my own or would it be too much??

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I used to two that age in a kids pool, although it is hard work getting them showered and dried!

It's physically possibly to do it, but if you are doubting yourself, I'd say take someone else along just in case.

Though check with your local pool. Ours is 1-on-1 until 5 I think.

From previous threads on here, it varies from council to council. Some say not.
Yes, where I live, one adult can take two U8s, and over 8 they don't need an adult. It's hard work though!

Yes, as long as your children are well behaved!

I would say it depends on how they are in the pool - its only in the last few months I have felt safe taking my two (5 and 2) on my own, and what changed was 2 things -
1 - DD can swim (level 4 ASA / got her 25 m badge on fluke)
2 - DS can now swim with a woggle

before that - I would have DD wanting to practice without her woggle and DS wanting to copy and therefore drown, or cling to me -twas hell!

What are the rules of the pool? Different pools have totally different ratios. Can range from 1:1 under 4 to 1:3 under 8.

AFAIK most pools have a policy of no more than 2 under 8's/non swimmers to one adult. If dd1 is happy in armbands then you should be fine, I take ds2 (v small 2yo) and DD, 3. DD can't stand but is happy pottering around in armbands and I keep a close eye. I have to hold ds2 at all times as he can't balance in armbands, but it's fine. Depends on the pool of course, the one we go to is v small. DD can't quite stand up in it yet, but she can't get too far away either!

Re getting dried etc, snacks and drinks essential IMO. My DD loves the shower so I leave her in it so she stays warm while I get ds2 dry and dressed just outside. Then I get her sorted, sit them with snacks while i get dry and dressed - forget combing hair or applying make up though, just get home as fast as possible without scaring too many people on the way Grin!

Thanks all, I am thinking of taking them on holiday so guess I would need to check with the park pool.

They are very well behaved in the water and I think would be good afterwards as well.
