Best presents for 2 year olds

DD will be two next month and we're probably going to get her a scooter, just to be highly unoriginal. But grandparents and various friends are asking for suggestions of presents and other then some Duplo, which I think she'll love, I can't think of much, so I'd love to hear what things have been the most successful with your 2yr olds.

She's just starting to enjoy playing independently/imaginatively and she's also just getting to the point where I think I could/should be doing arty/crafty type things with her although am so utterly useless at all of that that it's hard to imagine what I should be doing so any suggestions along those lines would be much appreciated. I like the idea of her having puzzles to do, especially as I'll be able to BF DD2 in peace whilst she does them but most of the ones I've come across are either way too simple and just require her to put two pieces together or are a bit too complicated.

Anyway, enough of that. What do your 2/3 year olds love and play with every day?

Thanks

As well as Duplo, my 2.2yo DD loves:
Happyland house: got it reduced and best £20 I havee ver spent. She play with it every day. perhaps this sort of thing good if your DD playing imaginatively. www.elc.co.uk/HappyLand-Rose-Cottage/118615,default,pd.html
Crayons and colouring book
'magna doodle'
tea set.
cuddly toys and using doll's crib and pushchair to play with them (ignores the doll though!)
basic finger paints /stamps to use with them
Also likes puzzles but also find it difficult to get the right difficulty - there is a big jump from very simple to quite difficult. The ones DD likes at moment are all hand-me-downs so can't suggest any I know of to buy now.
Have also seen her enthusiastic about play food / kitchens and garages at plagroups and friend's houses.

Oh - and 'Very Hungry Caterpillar' Dominboes (lots of other characters availalbe) - amazed me how well she gets the concept.

DD was obsessed with her play food especially the little wooden cakes on a cake stand. And her tea set in a little basket which she carried around everywhere.

She liked duplo too. Just the basic bricks though - she spent hours making plastic cakes.

And play doh (to make yet more cakes). I bought her some biscuit cutters and little cake trays and she was over the moon.

These are great, thanks. She has little kitchen and some food, which I agree is great. Thanks so much for all the suggestions. Keep them coming!

Hand or finger puppets?

DD got a playmobil farm for her 2nd birthday (1-2-3 range) which has been played with daily. Sandpit, garden toys. Mostly she plays with her imaginary friends and whatever she finds around the house though!

She'll be getting into Happyland stuff soon definitely. It is expensive but you can get great bundles on eBay.
I got a whole village on eBay for £50!

Aquadoodle! I always say this cos it's been such a success. Artsy and craftsy, without the messy. :)

You can almost certainly find it cheaper somewhere but check it out here

Ohh watching with interest! DD2 is 2 in May and have started being asked for Ideas too.

Ive already bought her a few bits.. Baby Annabel doll, Personalised Peppa Pig book, Vets set with Dog in a carrier thingy and shopping till.

But im abit stuck for any other ideas. Having an older Sister means she has tons of stuff already! I did quite abit of adding to things (more Megablocks etc) for Xmas too.

Im completely lacking inspiration!

Jigsaws. My DD does hers over and over. She's just gotten the hang of 15 and 20 piece jigsaws and is a tad addicted!

A tent. This is on my list for this summer when the better weather starts. She loves making tents indoors so I reckon it'll be a big hit.
