My dd just asked me if she could draw on the walls. Er no! She argued about it and i explained why we don't draw all over the house. She is insisting my dh said she could which he remembers nothing about.

I told her to stop going on about it, the answer is no. Queue bursting into tears and wailing. I put her on the naughty step as i don't want to hear the bloody wailing about something so daft.

Im aware that is probably harsh but for gods sake. Here we are having a nice morning and she starts wailing because she's not allowed to draw on the walls.

She's year 1 by the way.

I also swore which of course makes me an arsehole.

It's not harsh, it's good parenting. Wouldn't have even bothered arguing that one tbh. Falls into the category of 'ask a stupid question.....'

Thanks for your reply. Im guessing that she got her wires crossed about something. Perhaps i should have tried to figure it out more. She was obviously frustrated that i didn't know what she was talking about.

Im very impatient generally but when its a daft question like that i just get the hump.

BTW.... Hope you particularly took her to task about the lying i.e. 'Dad said I could do it'.

Well she seemed to really believe it. She said we had been having a conversation at dinner time and we had said she could draw on the walls. I thought maybe she meant when we decorate. I think we might have said something about when the wallpaper is all off she could help paint and paint some pictures or something. Or draw on the wall before we wallpaper it. Something like that. I don't think she was actually lying but confused.

Perhaps she dreamt it?
I've only just realised that DS 5 thinks that I know what he dreams about - as in, if I'm in a dream he's having, he assumes I'll know about it the next day. Clearly this leads to some very bizarre and confusing conversations/situations. But he's adamant [freak]

She's only young I bet she misunderstood her Daddy said to her.

If you want to repair things with her and feel like less of an arsehole, why not get her a big roll of lining paper from a DIY store to draw on? My DS loves drawing MASSIVE drawings and rolls of lining paper are perfect. They're cheap and tougher than regular paper too. I bet she'd love it Smile

Badge. She does have massive paper and we do that sometimes. She loves it. Perhaps we'll do that later. She particularly likes drawing round herself!
