Minki Huggles - any good?

My little man is 7 months old & a heavy wetter. We currently use tots originals at night with a booster & by morning it is absolutely sodden through. Saw about the huggle which boasts is fab for night etc but wondered if anyone out there is using them & how good/bad they are! Also, are they compatible with the Motherease Airflows?

Thanks ever so, Debs

Hi Debs,
I use the Minki Huggles at night with my daughter who is also seven months. I found they took a while to build up absorbency and we are still using a booster with them (two months on). However Livi (my dd) has been completely dry when we get her up and sometimes parts of the nappy feel dry too so we are considering removing the booster. They are very bulky but that doesnt seem to bother dd either. Without a tumble dryer they take about 48 hours to dry completely and dont 'fluff' properly on the airer, but I am sure there is some way to overcome this (I just got a tumbler so I dont need to worry any more!). I cant answer your question about the wraps as I use them with the Tots bots red fleece wrap, which I have had no problems with. I would certainly recommend them, shamefully I find myself rubbing the material against my face (whilst clean and dry I might add!) as they are so soft and they are certainly more absorbent at night than the tots we were using before.

Hi Debs - I have just invested in a Minki Huggle for my 4 month old son for night-time nappy. It is definitely more absorbent than Tots original which I have been using too. It has dry areas in the morning.

I have put ME Airflow over the top of Minki Huggle and it is a good fit as long as it is a generous size to start with.

At the moment I have been using a Stacinator Wool wrap over the top of the Minki - the whole thing looks massive on him - it looks like a great big cushion on his bum but the wrap works really well. Have a look at for wraps.

Have a look at www.kittykins.co.uk for wraps and info on night time nappies - it's a really good website.

Thanks everyone that's great. One more question for you! I am in a hard water area, so do they stay soft or go crispy like the old tots bots??!! I do have a tumble dryer in case that helps! I have a tots fleece wrap too so that helps to know they work on that. Do you not find that their bums are a foot higher than their head when lying flat in a huggle???!!!!

Because they are made of Egyptian towelling they tend to keep their softness better, I lived in a semi-hard water area and they were still soft enough on the outside, even when line/airer dried. If you are tumbledrying they come out lovely and fluffy and soft anyway.
And yes, they do look like they have massive cushions attached the their bums and Livi looks like a weeble when she tries to sit up in it (quite amusing watching her trying to balance in it) but thus far she has never woken in the night because of the size or complained when we are putting her in one. One mistake we did make is putting the same amount of clothes on her that she was wearing before to sleep (in a tots boostered fluffle and red wrap) as the poor little thing ended up waking up all sticky and upset as she was so hot, due to the huggles thickness. I use a Minki Huggle size large on my ds, who is 14 months, he's below the average centile for his age and has a slim waist. The Huggle fits him very well as it is very well-elasticated.
The only downside to that is sometimes I find he has red marks in the morning from the elastic - it is very good at keeping in poops though!!
Great night nappy, we use ours with a Disana wool wrap, for extra absorbency.

I love Huggles as a night nappy, they are really absorbent and the fleece inside seems rwally comfy. My ds is nearly 7 months and a very heavy wetter so someitmes I boost it too but he's always happy in the morning (after a good 12 hours in teh Huggle with loads of nightime breastfeeds!). I tend to use a Lovebums or Staciantor PUL wrap over the top to get a nice high rise and also because DS has chubby thighs. Both nappy and wrap are size large btw. They are my fave night nappy although I aslo like a boosted Bumble. hth
