Where to buy trousers for cloth nappy wearers?

Hey all you cloth nappy-heads out there - advice needed!
I read a previous thread recently and so I know about 'cut4cloth' and some of the other websites but they tend to be a bit pricey. I know mothercare and next trousers are useless for the terry-towelling padded exterior!
Has anyone tried any trousers from jojomamanbebe? or Boden? Where else for a generous fit around the bum?

are they for a boy or girl? I tend to put dd in leggings/jogging pants as they have enough give in them. Mainly tescos seems to be wuite good.

bumbleweed · 31/01/2006 14:04

Girl.
Not that impressed with Tesco - 2 pairs of cords from there and quite tight round the waist. Agree about leggings!

m&s usually quite good.
also try h&m, they're supposed to be good.

There are lots of websites doing clothes for cloth nappy wearers, but expensive imo.

Boden baggies are good, and most dungarees. Just avoid anything with a fitted cut -- flared trousers for girls will not fit a cloth bottom ime.

My local tesco sell trousers with an elasticated band, like for pregnant women. Does the job for my dd, and they're cheap too.

Spotted Tinker Togs in the Webguide the other day.

Petit Bateau for those living in London or near Bluewater do a gorgeous stripy baggy trouser. They are about £15 a pair but I bought them a size too big so that he can make them last! They are lovely and warm and fit perfectly over a big nappy! Lots of room around the waist!

If this puts anybody off cloth, just to let you know that my ds is now in 18-24m clothes, and can wear almost any style. This is with a Tots size 3 boosted nappy with a ME wrap

I liked H&M, any jogging bottoms or dungarees & JoJo leggings. Jeans never fitted when he was smaller. However, I did invest in a couple of Motherease Multifit nappies, which are as slim as a disposable, for when I wanted him to look smart (for weddings etc )

northender · 01/02/2006 08:16

h&m are the best ones I've found and Next the worst

pesme · 01/02/2006 08:22

definitely h&m. John lewis are quite good too.

LeahE · 01/02/2006 08:32

Dungarees are your friend (and you can get some very cute girly dungarees). Almost anyone's dungarees will fit over a cloth bottom.

Laura032004 · 01/02/2006 09:12

Even Next dungarees and trackie bottoms are OK. We sometimes had to buy the next size up, but I'm a sucker for Next dungarees!

Laura032004 · 01/02/2006 09:13

Always loved the H&M (and GAP sometimes had them) fleece trousers. And DS didn't seem to get hot in them which surprised me.

bumbleweed · 01/02/2006 16:37

Thanks for all the answers everyone.
I love her in dungarees but have to say I've found the mothercare and next ones a bit tight round the crotch area. I do use totsbots nappies though which are quite bulky.

I will defo try H&M and M&S (I just realised that you can buy from M&S on-line which is good and they're not too pricey too)!

I also confess I use an eco-disposable for when I want to put her in a really smart outfit she has which doesnt fit with the totsbots on!!

bumbleweed, my ds wears totsbots and I got a pair of Woolworths dungarees a couple of weeks ago and they fit really well. He has a few pairs of dungies - George at Asda are a good fit too.

shrimpy169 · 02/02/2006 19:44

My dd is on the large size anyway so have struggled finding clothes to fit over her MEOS cloth nappies. I find M+S useless. H+M good. Tesco good. Boots useless. Mothercare some ok most useless. Next- usually useless. GAP - not even worth trying! Osh-Kosh good. Adams - ok.

Latz · 02/02/2006 19:58

Little Green Earthlets (think it is earthlets.com/co.uk) do clothes for cloth bottomed cherubs - quite expensive though.

bumbleweed · 03/02/2006 11:01

Yeah Earthlets sell the 'Cut4Cloth' stuff I think. Their basic trousers are £9 which isnt too bad. But some of their stuff - £22 for a pair of pink cargo trousers . Not paying those prices for something she'll only be in for a few months!!
