We live in the tropics. Have 15 mo DS. Long hot summer ahead, when it is too hot and humid to go outside apart from early morning and late afternoon, and have visitors from Uk coming mid month coming who can bring me DVDs if I order them from amazon. He's not yet interested in TV but reckon that will change and want a small arsenal of tried and tested films/programmes I can bung on to keep him happy for half an hour while I cook/tidygo online and weep quietly into my gin.

So far have Night Garden, Pingu, Peppa volume 1-3 Cbeebies summer special, Beatrix Potter. Anything else you recommend for an 18 - 2.5 old boy and his small friends?

My son is 2 and he loves Disney films such as Cars, Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo. He also likes Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Agent Oso.

Anything bright seems to get their attention. If they like cars and trucks then the film Cars is great for them

postman pat, fireman sam, sesame street, the wiggles (they should love that!), barney?

also Noddy

I like "fun song factory" as it's proper songs like London Bridge and one potato, two potato.

Napdamnyou · 05/03/2012 02:05

Thank you! Blimey, clocked up 68 quid so far in my amazon wish list, but still cheap at the price if we can't go outside much for months...

What about Rastamouse? I saw one episode once and actually enjoyed it...

Thomas the tank engine. If you buy nothing else, get Thomas. My DS is obsessed. That and Peppa Pig.

Anything from Ceebeebies and Cars. And Cars 2.

He would also happily watch Top Gear or steam trains on YouTube...

UntamedShrew · 05/03/2012 03:38

Tractor Ted series
Fireman Sam
Toy Story when he is a bit older (2.10 DTs adore it)

Petrean · 05/03/2012 04:46

What KatieMiddleton says... Thomas the Tank Engine, he is my DS's world, he adores Thomas and would happily watch him all day if I let him.

Tee2072 · 05/03/2012 07:45

My son has just discovered Rory the Racing car and it's a huge favourite along with Thomas.

Oh and the Wiggles!

LottieJenkins · 05/03/2012 07:50

Bob the Builder! Rupert the Bear.........

Chateauneuf · 05/03/2012 07:57

DD loves Wonderpets, specifically "Wonderpets save the Beetles" DVD.

BellaBearisWideAwake · 05/03/2012 07:58

Dogtanian, willy fogg. Oldies but good - andmight be cheaper!

Madagascar and Madagascar 2

Wallace & grommit

Yy to toy story, nemo, cars

WhenDoISleep · 05/03/2012 07:59

Thomas the Tank engine, Chuggington, Bob the Builder, Postman Pat, Toy Story 1-2 (for when a little older), Cars

Overcooked · 05/03/2012 08:00

Pete's Dragon - my DD loves it, watches at least an hour every day!

WhenDoISleep · 05/03/2012 08:02

Oh, DS also likes watching trains on Youtube (people put up films of their Thomas tracks etc).

He also bizzarely likes watching 'Britain's Railways' on iPlayer - not sure if the first series is availible on DVD though.

How about Pingu, Happy Feet, March of the Penguins - the films may need a little policing for a couple of not so nice bits but are mostly fine.

festivalwidow · 05/03/2012 09:41

DD loves penguins so if yours likes Pingu, March of the Penguins is a good one (mine insists I fast forward through the 'boring' scenery bits). Frozen Planet also good but needs some fast forwarding in places.

Rastamouse is brilliant! the kids can dance around to the music and it actually has a plot Grin

Napdamnyou · 05/03/2012 12:26

Brilliant, thanks. My poor visitors will be staggering under the weight of all the DVDs but I will be no doubt blessing MN as the humidity climbs to 90% and the toddlers bounce off the wall...

i can second Mickey's clubhouse, DS is 2.5 and loves it. the 'pattern' of each one is the same which he seems to like. (find problem, get tools, solve problem)

also loves Thomas, Peppa, night garden, waybuloo and most other Cbeebies stuff.

he has a really cheap old fashioned songs and nursery rhymes Dvd which got heavy use for a while.

trixie123 · 05/03/2012 16:17

honestly, what is it about thomas? DS adores it and can tell you ALL the engines, even the really obscure ones (Skarloey?) Ben and Holly's little kingdom is great because the stories are actually quite entertaining for the adults watching. Its by the same people as Peppa and DS likes it a lot. Now if Thomas could take a detour through the Little Kingdom with Annie and Clarabel giving a lift to peppa, george and those weird things off Waybaloo we'd be laughing!

BlueChampagne · 05/03/2012 16:20

Oldies like Bagpuss and Clangers still popular with our 2, plus Chuggington.

EnjoyResponsibly · 05/03/2012 16:29

Thomas
Ben and Holly
Peppa
Fifi and the flowertots
Fireman Sam, especially the Great Fire of Pontypandy
Bananas in Pajamas
